Yes, I have an idea for a story arc that will cross over BHF 6 & 7, followed by a prequel in mine and Andy Llewellyn's Spoken in Whispers... a story arc across three books! iant, although you look more like a cuddly teddy bear and in no way a fiend, I'm concerned your sandwich resembles a barber's cut throat razor, such as was used by Sweeney Todd and other Penny Dreadful nasties. Please supply details of the contents and whether you bought it from a pie shop next to a barber's in Fleet Street.

I'm shocked and horrified at this! My honour must be defended. I demand satisfaction! Obviously when I say I demand I don't actually mean me. I mean cauldronbrewer demands satisfaction... I'm going out before you ask me to demand satisfaction. I hope you have a nice area to walk in. Since lockdown I've noticed many more people are cycling, which is good, but I do wish they would get bells. They often sneak up on you from behind.

Shut up and clean your pistol. That doesn't sound right does it. Carry On mode has been activated. Changing to weapon is no better. I don't know what to put. "stick it in a/your drawer(s)" is worse, & doesn't even really work as a double-entendre. I should have said shut up and polish your pistol. But I only just thought of it.

I mean cauldronbrewer demands satisfaction... I regret to inform you that I grew up in the part of Kentucky where folks feuded rather than dueled.

Luckily people in my area don't do that; not many people cycling but a lot walking. Hope you don't get hurt by any thoughtless cyclists, Princess.

Well, 'cuddly teddy bear' is probably the best I can hope for these days...
I'm pretty sure that the baguette was menacing people with salami and cheese... I was co-leading a school trip to French and Belgian Christmas Markets... I left Olde London town to Sweeney and associates!

Fritz Maitland - Stand And Deliver: Vile verse. Narrator risks gangrene to confront the ghastliest of the De'ils highwaymen! Inspired by fluke smash hit by the poor man's Martian Dance. Steward's enquiry! Fluke?!?!?

Steward's enquiry! Fluke?!?!? Well, it took about a year, but I was hoping that would rouse you from your slumbers. Well done on the three appearances, Herr M! So glad The Night Bus found a worthy home. PS. Loved Kings of the Wild Frontier, never felt quite the same about anything that followed.

BHF Books six and seven are in preparation and will be available in December. Have been reliably informed by some trouble making bastard or other that Franklin Marsh, master of the macabre, is among the contributors to both volumes. Also "confirmed sightings" of Sam Crosby, 'Bony' Tony Earnshaw, Barry Hale, Selene Rafaela Kapsaski and Ian Taylor.

Yep. Marsh in one, Maitland in the other. Nothing you haven't seen before, but that's the way it is.
Oh, talking of the 5th BHF Book Of Horror Stories -
October 29th
Ian Taylor - 11:59. Taking it's title from a Blondie tune, Ian's love of music shines through this one. A story of young people, living , loving messing up and having a good time. LOve or tragedy could be just around the corner. Both can be enhanced by music, or keeping a diary to preserve your innermost thoughts and emotions. In fact, if you use both to immerse yourself in the past, you could find yourself actually back there, reliving the same events over and over again. If only you could change things....but what if you do, and when you return to the 'real' world, you affected something else? Great stuff, not obviously horror, but there's a witchy Goth in there who seems familiar with Casting The Runes. And 1,000 bonus points for mentioning the Kinks' See My Friend(s).
Neil Pike - Welcome Home. Can't even attempt this without embarrassing myself by quoting the old Two Ronnies tasteless news item - Peters & Lee have split up. She's gone solo, and he's gone straight into a lamp post. I apologise. Anyway, Neil's story is in more familiar horror territory but starts off with Fuchs, a Mancunian crime lord, plus two heavies visiting a man of rustic property, who's ne'er-do-well son has given them the deeds of his dad's properties in lieu of debt and a possibly fatal beating. Pop has a vestige of paternal love, and a fondness for his own health so signs over his properties, although he does hesitate over one. It's a rundown dump, out in the middle of nowhere, with a tenant who could be a bit...difficult. The crims aren't fussed about that, and with all deeds signed over, decide to pop in on this hovel on the way back to Manchester and see just what this tenant is made of. Superb build up, and satisfying denouement.

Our ashen alcoholic in St. George-in-the-East churchyard informs us that Ken Shinn has submitted stories to both volumes, Sam Dawson likewise. Also that the books remain on course for pre-Christmas publication.
