The only thing I can recall about Amish courting customs is reading somewhere that the two people were allowed to lie on a bed together but with a long board between them. Probably apocryphal but the Amish are known to be very handy with woodworking. Some skill at hole drilling would be useful, I suppose.

Putting the words "Amish" and "romance" together brings a new kind of horror to light. Perhaps Guy N. Smith wrote a novella about an Amish couple being eaten alive by radioactive praying mantises. Miss Scarlett, those images are so funny. I wonder if those are real TV shows. cheers, Hel. Glad you enjoy them, Steve! They were real tv shows, on TLC about 10-12yrs ago.

OK, having been failed by the three people I thought I could rely on about knowledge of Amish romance literature (helrunar, Dr Strange, and Swampirella), my hopeful eyes turn toward my last chance... dem bones. He won't let me down! You-know-where has plenty of Amish romance;
I'd forgotten this tv program, which had only one season in 2014 (why could that be?). So there are Amish (supposedly true) ghost stories.
Just found this book also; the first one apparently isn't haunted, just a plain ole mystery.

I'm sure the Amish (as well as the Mennonite & Hutterites) are all lovely people, but I seriously never imagined we'd be discussing them on this site! No doubt because they are mostly lovely people, unlike us (we?) gore-loving reprobates.

Swampirella your 1,000 post on this site was about Amish hauntings. That's what years of posting has built up to.

I've met Amish people when visiting the "North country" which is what people in way-upstate New York call their region.
In my experience, they're fine as long as they don't suspect you of being homosexual, a Witch, or a non-Christian. Oooops....

If you see them doing woodwork while you are visiting, and it starts to resemble a coffin, then I'd imagine that's not too good.

I saw a video once of a solar powered buggy designed for Amish.
