Swampirella do you always start the day with a horror story? To get you in the right mood. You'll be glad to hear that's a rare occurence. Diary entry by Swampirella: Got up, sunny day. Read Night of the Crabs by Guy N Smith, then put on bonnet, picked up parasol and went to the beach. Read Jaws. Went swimming. Note: Edited to add additional comic elements.

Diary entry by Swampirella: Got up, sunny day. ReadĀ Night of the Crabs by Guy N Smith, then put on bonnet, picked up parasol and went to the beach. Read Jaws. Went swimming. Note: Edited to add additional comic elements. Now, it's only fair that we be treated to a diary entry by you, Princess! Here are three. Diary entry by Princess Tuvstarr: Replied to Swampirella on Vault. Kicked off another thread by the local tyrant for changing the conversation to something that had nothing to do with original subject. He is very picky considering how extraordinarily beautiful I am. I wonder where I will end up now? Later entry: What a very strange world this Vault is, I sometimes wonder if any of the crazed maniacs, I mean denizens here are really human beings. Most of the time I'm kept locked up in a tall tower, it's very tall and I hope my extraordinarily beautiful hair grows quickly so a prince can climb up to rescue me. Although what a very tall tower is doing in a vault is something I can't answer. The creator of this place must be mad. Much later entry: Yesterday I took a break from darning my unmentionables and peeked out of the window of my tower, and I thought I saw Isaac Asimov's hands creeping around the tower's base, looking for handholds. They were all sweaty, I think they had been to a convention. They aren't the hero I had in mind. My extraordinarily beautiful face had a look of shock on it. I hope my real prince comes soon, and I hope he looks like Jon Pertwee, who is all man... Edited to add additional mention of my extraordinary beauty.

You have really good taste, Princess. Jon Pertwee was a "gentleman," according to Lis Sladen who played Sarah Jane on Jon's final series of Dr Who. He also had tremendous verve and style. To quote Cyber Leader--"Ex Cellent!"
Yes, we're all mad in here. Mad. Maaaad I tell you. (Ed.--Enough with the Kenneth Williams bit, Hel.)

You'll already know that each of the tales in the Fifth BHF Book of Horror Stories is named after a well-known song.
As an exercise one lazy lunchtime a few weeks ago, I began wondering which songs might best fit the Book Four titles as alternatives. Here's what I came up with. If you haven't read our fourth book yet, these alternate names for the stories might just give additional intriguing pointers as to the content!
So, if the stories in BHF Book Four had been shifted into Book Five:
Night Thoughts - Too Much Information Carrion Screaming - Me and You and a Dog Named Boo Hard Core - Little Green Apples Starr Student - Doctor Doctor The Night Bus - Every Kinda People Protein - Maggot Brain The Phoenix for the Flame - Changes Vultura is Dead... and Well and Living in London - Movie Star Paging Doctor Death - My Back Pages Tea with Mrs Hindley - Afternoon Delight Good Boy - Who Let the Dogs Out? By Dawn's Early Light - The Way We Were Delivery - Please Mr Postman Gentry in the Country - A Song From Under the Floorboards The Little Red-Haired Girl - Masquerade The Endless Depths Above Us - Gigantic The Making of Lord Courtley - Ecubyan The Making of Johnny Alucard - Get Down and Get With It Frankenstein's Tortoise - William It Was Really Nothing Calhoun Despairs - I Eat Cannibals Glad It's All Over - Jump Tansy's Poppets - Voodoo Child (Slight Return) The Interview - Nice Work if You Can Get It Luxuriate Effervescently - Splish Splash I was Taking a Bath Just a Click and the Agony - Life in a Northern Town A Bloody Nuisance - Mirror Man A Voodoo Favour - Let's All Chant Telling Stories - Tellin' Stories

I'll play (or try to). Obscenely obvious, but I had 'Hard Life in the Country' sound-tracking Gentry in the Country even as I was reading it. Half-expected Bow Wow Wow to appear over the hills at any moment. With near supernatural lack of imagination, for Franklin's story maybe Quince Harmon's 'It's a great life on the Buses,' Delivery gets 'Wolf Moon' and for Good Boy, 'Dog With Sharper teeth'. Interview can have 'I Want My Baby Back'. Tea with Mrs. Hindley could play out to 'We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off.' Glad It's All Over is 'Ain't it Grand to be Blooming Well Dead.' A Voodoo Flavour might suit 'Bedazzled.' The Little Red-Haired Girl - maybe Ke$ha's 'Die Young'? And Calhoun Despairs gets Denim on Ice. Maybe some more suggestions later if you're desperately unfortunate.

Inspired!
I can see why Darrell suggested 'Changes' for Phoenix For The Flame, although I still prefer 'Vengeance' by New Model Army. I'm a bit of an old anarcho-crusty. So sue me.
