Maybe our True Ghost contingent can help? I just read a snippet relating a baptism tragedy in a NW London church - a baby girl either strangled by or crushed under the weight of the jewellery bought her by proud Daddy, which he insisted she wear for the occasion. Now, either my mind's playing tricks or I've read of an identical tragedy that took place in, I think, Scotland - somewhere other than St. Lawrence's in Canon's Park, anyway, that's for sure.

I can't recall ever reading such a story, but I'll take a quick look through some of my books & see if I find anything.

Thank you, Swampi, it's already driving me bats. Have rechecked notes and, on this occasion, the tiny victim "died in a nurses arms when about to be christened due to the weight of the gold and the gems on the robe pressed to her chest." Not quite the same as the crushed-by-being-forced-to-wear-too-much-jewellery version, which is the one I'm after.

No luck so far in finding any further details, sorry to say!
