Just to let you know I've signed the contract today to write the tie-in for THE SORCERERS. Hope I do John Burke proud. We're hoping to get it out for September - 10th anniversary of John's death.

That's amazing news, Primrose Hildebrand! Do you mean a book adaptation of the 1960s film starring Karloff, the phenomenal Catherine Lacey, and sexy young Ian Ogilvy?
cheers, Helrunar

Congratulation, Johnny. It's deserved a book for years. A shame that John didn't do one at the time to go with his original work, but that's business - it would have sat well next to books like 'The Weekend Girls' (a Burke favourite that went west in a clear out years ago, sadly). But as someone who has done more than anyone I can think of really to keep that post-war British strand of horror fiction alive, it's fitting you get to put that missing novelisation right.

Cheers for this Pulp, THE SORCERERS has certainly been a passion project I've been involved with since John's death - bringing out the screenplay with PS, working on the bluray release with Odeon Entertainment - all to make sure that John got his proper credit. With the tie-in, which has been given the go-ahead by his estate, I'm having the strange feeling of him standing over my shoulder telling me my grammar is crap, my violence isn't gory enough and if I fon't throw in at least one 'grotty' - he'll have my guts for garters! And thanks for your kind words. It means a hell of a great deal.

They're beautiful, Johnny. I wasn't aware there was a difference between "trade" and "mass-market'--hope I don't get booted out of the group for admitting that. I'm sure Andreas is well aware of the distinction. I just like to buy an old paperback now and then.
It's lovely to see creative people such as yourself taking an interest in films of this era. It was a very unusual story, with beautifully accomplished performances.

Thank you very much, Hel. First and foremost I'm writing the book I want to read. So I want it to be entertaining, gallop along at a breakneck pace and have lashings of jarring, bloody violence.

Sorry Johnny, I just imagined your daughter's editorial "interventions" into the bloody, "bit of the old Ultra Violence" narrative ... I'm sure they would be extreme! She is really quite a talent. I'm seeing a scenario where she channels Catherine Lacey's character in the film. Bet she'd be quite enthusiastic!
Hope all is well with you and yours.
cheers, Helrunar (Steve)
