Charlotte Potter [ed.], Take A Break: Fate & Fortune (Feb (!), 2021) With the Sunday market axed until further notice, picked this up in Sainsbury yesterday out of sheer desperation for something new to read. Now I'm wondering how any of us could have made it through a difficult 2020 without our monthly shot of this tremendous publication! Sample columns & articles; The Witch that makes you rich! "Need some money to come your way? Each month, author and world renowned witch, Rachel Patterson, will cast a spell to boost your luck and prosperity .... Want to know what your pet is thinking? Texas the Psychic Horse can tell you with the help of animal communicator Holly Davis.... Notoriously haunted; Each issue we investigate the most ghostly buildings in Britain. Here we take a look at The Black Swan in York ... My secret admirer is a ghost; "After coming to the rescue of a taunted spirit, I had no idea the effect it would have on me" By Holly-Eloise Walters, 27 ... Scary dare that went wrong "My partner Kriss wanted me to spend the night alone with his haunted doll. What harm could it do? by Sharon Power, 52." ("The fingers began to tighten. Coughing and spluttering I tried to break free. But they had me pinned down firmly ..." Did the deadly dolly kill Kriss? You'll have to read her account of their bone-freezing encounter to find out!). They can't all work Haunted By My Hubby's Ex suffers because the ghost of John's bride #1 is benign, while the Psychic Detective feature is in very poor taste. "Each month, ex-cop and psychic NICKY ALAN teams up with her spirit guides to investigate an unsolved mystery. Here she delves into the Moorgate tube tragedy .... "WHY DIDN'T HE STOP?" Reader participation is encouraged at every opportunity. 'True life experiences' aside, regular columns include; Your Spooky World where readers get to share their most haunting photo's. Twists in the tale; Spooky short stories in 100 words or under; A day in the Afterlife ("Each month world-renowned medium Sandrea Mosses connects a reader with a loved one in spirit to discover what their life is like on the other side"), prize crosswords and competitions - win a ghost hunt!

Kev, you have achieved the impossible and made me laugh this afternoon. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU.
I'll have to look up Joy Fielding. As usual, never heard of the lady. Sounds... interesting.
cheers! Steve

So that’s what Sandrea Mosses does when she’s not featured on “Haunted Hospitals” - (which I do enjoy)

I've never heard of this publication and am actually a bit surprised that it was for sale in Sainsbury's. I will have to ask Mrs Ripper to keep her eyes peeled for it the next time she ventures there. I don't follow paranormal reality (is that an oxymoron?) shows much at all, so not heard of any of the contributors, but it sounds like an interesting read.
Just reading Dem's post made me remember Old Moore's Almanack that my late mum used to buy every year around this time.

These looks positively spook-laden, too. Chat - It's Fate - not to be confused with plain old Chat (below), which, judged by its cover, could be just as great - is apparently aka "The thinking woman's Psychic Handbook." Not sure if these are only available in digital form, but will make a point of checking mag racks on next visit to S**nsb*ry. Just in case concern over poor Sharon's run-in with the possessed doll gave you a sleepless night, a recent photograph of the good lady to set your mind at rest. Our Sharon. Older, possibly wiser but otherwise none the worse for her ordeal

A Demon ruined Mum's Birthday! Get famous with voodoo! Protect your homo with lucky knockers! (In the US, knockers is a slang term for a woman's breasts.)
Thanks for another rare occasion for laughter Kev!
cheers, Steve

Do people talk fondly of "hooters" over in dear old Blighty? That's one that I have only ever heard in films and TV, although there is or was a restaurant chain called Hooters. I don't know if it was meant to be for those who are afficionados of ladies' titties--it was one of many enigmas that continue to elude me at this venerable age of 62. There are so very many.
cheers, Hel

Can anyone decode that shock headline OAP forgot--she committed murder--89 and deadly?
As somebody once said somewhere--curiouser and curiouser.

Oh, thanks!
As soon as I read what you wrote, I realized that OAP stands for "old age pensioner." It's not an acronym I've encountered in American news blather.
cheers! H.

Most likely be back in Sainsb*ry tomorrow morning, so will check if they've any more. It's all a bit confusing as there seems to be both a Take A Break and (the one we're interested in) Take a Break Fate & Fortune, same as with Chat and Chat - It's Fate. Fortunately Magzter provides previews for the chat curious.

Wow, just ... wow. Can't say what is better: Photobombed by my dead mum or Cursed until I was visited by a mystical fish! Wait, what? Have to check our magazines if there is something comparable.

Didn't Hooters try branching out into the airline business at some time?

Charlotte Potter [ed.], Take A Break: Fate & Fortune (March , 2021) Call me psychic, but I had a hunch February's masterpiece was no fluke and so it proves. The very premature March Take a Break - Fate & Fortune proves every bit the equal of it's predecessor - if anything, it's an improvement. Spooky sample stuff. Jailhouse Jitters: How Laura Ewens, 38, dedicated amateur ghost hunter, found herself eyeball to spectral eyeball with the phantom warden of Bodmin Jail. The Creeps in the Corner: 55-year-old Paul Cissell's recollections of a spook-ridden childhood featuring grandma's haunted handbag and a game of Mousetrap with a dead boy. "I had no idea there was a ghostly vortex in my bedroom until evil entered without an invite." The Dress of Doom: Vicky Hall Newman, 47, relates how her daughter came under attack from a homicidal summer frock; not quite fashion victim gold, but they all count. Stuck with a SEXIST spook!. The living nightmare of Rachel Stirling, 44. Poor Rachel moved in with her boyfriend at his Stalbridge, Dorset, bungalow only to be persecuted by a phantom Victorian leprechaun, speciality - growling derogatory remarks about women. Notoriously Haunted: The team investigate the eerie goings on at True's Yard Fisherfolks Museum in Norfolk. SPECIAL Delivery: A chat with Jeff Phillips, 60, the psychic postman who can predict if your house is going to burn down. Your Pet Calls from Heaven: Mickey the hamster reports back from the afterlife via Texas, the psychic horse. "I felt slightly panicked when I passed, but only for a moment.... I still feel tired, so I am in a place of healing for now." It makes you think, though, doesn't it? Also the usual plethora of orbs, angels, and plenty puzzles to keep us busy until Feb 18th.
