LATER EDIT: Bugger! I've now got "Living Next Door To Alice" on the brain, and I can't get rid of it! I can't get that blasted song out of my head now, Caroline! I know - I can't get rid of it either! It's one of those songs that, once you get it in your head, it clings on for dear life! OK, let's try thinking of another one. Oh no, now I've got Middle of the Road's "Chirpy Chirpy, Cheep Cheep" on the brain as well!

"Chirpy Chirpy, Cheep Cheep"! Now we're talking the classics! Glampunk is Dem's older brother. How else would he know Dem's mum? Curses! There's no slipping anything past Franklin 'Solar' Marsh and Sherlock Dunham, is there? And how can you resist these top Tremletts, glamdem? I was doing a bit of exhaustive research myself and felt duty bound to share a few covers. Well, perhaps I was a little hasty .... Sold! I'm sure I had the Bowie one at some point. For all Dem's Mum fans, I'm currently in negotiations with the dear lady over the possibility of her contributing a recent snap to our photo section. It's the one of her in her garden looking nice.

I did see bacofoil eejits Wrathchild the once - and met them in the Clarendon pub in Hammersmith in the company of Marionette singer Ray Zell - creator of Pandora Peroxide. They walked it like they talked it - dressing like that even when not playing a gig. Did you get to see many NWOBHM bands, FM? I remember getting moderately excited about all that business when that issue of Sounds came out with Thunderstick from Samson on the front wearing his "Cambridge Rapist"/gimp mask. For about 5 minutes there, even Def Leppard seemed like they might be an interesting new prospect. I had to keep it a bit quiet though as my mates would never have approved. Taking a 'Punk approach' to Heavy Metal didn't butter any parsnips with them; it was still Heavy Metal and 'not Punk'. Even Algy Ward's Tank failed to impress. Sometime last year, between my Black Metal period and my bleak winter of Anarcho-punk, I had my own little NWOBHM revival and unearthed a load of old stuff. Most of it hadn't aged well I admit, but some of it isn't half bad. The two Witchfinder General LPs are must haves, if only for the covers. I'd put up the cover for 'Death Penalty' too, but it wouldn't last 5 minutes on Photobucket!

Algy Ward's Tank failed to impress? ? How dare you! Me an' me bro were honorary Filth Hounds Of Hades and constantly annoyed the great man by shouting 'Smash It Up!' at Tank gigs. Saw Saxon, Iron Maiden and a few others later on when punk gigs were being trashed by right wing lunatics, and we couldn't face the Crass thing. Some of the smaller p*ss takers were great. Dumpy with his Splodge take on NWOBHM was always a fave - and what happened to Aunt May? (a two bob version of Witchfinder General) Then it was the Hanoi Rocks glam comeback (mixed with Th' Stones, Th' Faces and Th' Dolls) - Wrathchild (who incidentally were bottom of the bill under Thor and W.A.S.P.), The Mannish Boys, Mercenary Skank and, for the comedy aspect, Marionette and The Babysitters (who became Last Of The Teenage Idols). Paddy Goes To Holyhead fitted in nicely with this lot. Poor old Algy had a brain tumour I think and has been very ill. It's all rock 'n' roll

There are 'must have' albums and there are 'must have' albums. This is more of a 'must have' cover in the fine tradition of the magnificent - albeit unlistenable - Pickwick gems of the Hot Hits variety. But perhaps we shouldn't go down that road again ...... In my spare time I'm currently gripped by a fearsome spaghetti western fixation, so expect me to be all over the 'westerns' section (have we still got one?) ..... Yep, HERE, and as you'll see, it needs all the help it can get!

Oddly, was just reading the slade book last night. He's no great writer that Tremlett I think it's fair to say.
Had the glitter book years ago, from what I remember he seems to keep saving kids' lives at odd intervals (kid drowning on a fishing trip etc etc). The slik one I have a copy of somewhere. Possibly the most insubstantial book of any genre anywhere. Probably doesn't even stack up against the proverbial 'Italian War Heroes' etc.
