Love lost and found Betrayal Death Revenge
Seeing Red
It's one for the horrors.
Includes the World Fantasy Award winner "Red Light". With an introduction by T. E. D. Klein
Content: Introduction (Seeing Red) - T. E. D. Klein Red Light (1986) Bunny Didn't Tell Us (1985) Incident on a Rainy Night in Beverly Hills (1990) The Woman's Version (1985) Lonesome Coyote Blues (1985) Night Bloomer (1990) One for the Horrors (1983) Visitation (1983) Pulpmeister (1982) Coming Soon to a Theater Near You (1984) The Embracing (1981) (scribbled graffiti) (1988) Blood Rape of the Lust Ghouls (1986) Not from Around Here (1990)
This is Schow's first of many collections. Some stories have aged better than others. If you look at the nominees for the World Fantasy Award in 1987, Red Light still deserves its win. The social media Instagram generation maybe even adds relevance to it. It was also filmed as a particulary poor epsiode of TVs The Hunger. A few of the stories are quite enjoyable, like the cynical parody of writing action adventure novels in Pulpmeister, or Coming Soon to a Theater Near You which kind of celebrates the fleapit cinemas of the past.
