Been listening to:
The Prodigy - Invaders Must Die
Muse - The Resistance.
They just get better with every album, & I always find myself listening to the album the whole way through every time, no skipping. Difficult to choose a favourite track, as they're all brilliant, but Unnatural Selection comes close.

So much good stuff! Right now I'm listening to Switchblade Symphony's Gutter Glitter, but I've been on a major Nox Arcana kick, the Necronomicon album and Carnival of Lost Souls. And also Japanese band Polysics, the Polysics or Die album; Tom Waits' Black Rider, Bone Machine and Mule Variations; and Asian Dub Foundation's Punkara album.

Courtesy of youtube, I've been listening to Coil. very good so far, but I think I've only scratched the surface of their output.

I always regretted not picking up their rejected score for Hellraiser when I saw it for sale for £10 in HMV in Nottingham back in the late 1980s. Clive Barker said it made his bowels churn, so I'm sure it must have been...interesting

I've long been strangely terrified and yet intrigued by this misty encounter with the otherworldly from 1980 ....

I have to admit, I always found Hot Chocolate rather scary. Today I went into my external drive and rediscovered Garden of Unearthly Delights, by Cathedral; Nine Inch Nails, Year Zero; and Ambrose and His Orchestra (yeah, it isn't all rock and roll, folks) performing Smile, Darn Ya, Smile. My kids are now officially freaked out, which is just the way I like it.

Been listening to:
Entombed - Left Hand Path
A great version of the phantasm theme, starting halfway through the title track.
Cannibal Corpse - Tomb Of The Mutilated
Fun for all the family, with titles like Hammer Smashed Face & Entrails Ripped Through a Virgin's C.unt ;D . As with a lot of death metal, I would need a lyric sheet to work out what's actually being sung. Some great riffs though.
Southern Death Cult - Southern Death Cult
What would eventually become The Cult. More flanger use here, but there's no mistaking Astbury's vocals.

For some reason I'm listening to practically continuous looping of Nippon Girls, a collection of Japanese pop performers of the 60s. Beat, rock, ballad, and just plain weird. When I can tear myself away, I'm using the HP Lovecraft Historical Society's Scary Solstice albums to fend off the hideous wailing misery that all our local shops seem to be playing to celebrate Christmas. No idea who the singer is or why she seems to want everyone to slit their wrists for the holidays, but I wish they'd stop. Come back Bing, all is forgiven.

In that case I thoroughly recommend my old busking partner and his band. This should pull confirmed zombies back into uneasy life: www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqkepDkMSKk

Coil - Time Machines.
Very hypnotic, 4 tracks - most lasting over 15 mins each & not really background listening, needs full attention.
Sepultura - Beneath The Remains & Arise
Still great thrash albums.

I regularly return to Robyn Hitchcock. Currently the soundtrack to "Storefront Hitchcock", which has him live in, well, a storefront. A sample of The Man's 'tween songs monologues together with his very own number "Filthy Bird" from the film is at www.youtube.com/watch?v=rr3X9kjHb3M

Not exactly what I've been listening to, but seems the appropiate place (in Vault terms). Thought I'd relay an amusing music related encounter I had with a Polish girl, on leaving wetherspoons last night (I'm doing my Vault rep no good, I was drinking coffee): After a bit of confusion, I realised she liked my Cradle Of Filth t-shirt, & she started asking about various death metal bands, (most of which I'd heard of & probably heard tracks by & liked, but fairly distant) & was asking me if I liked death metal & punk, + also children of bodom & vader (polish death metal band). We both established we liked Slayer, but due to her English & her having been drinking no doubt, I don't think she was understanding me when I said of some bands, that "I like what I've heard of them" & she seemed to take me for pretending to like them, for some reason. Our brief conversation ended with her telling me in heavy accent "you a liar, you a liar". So it looks like it's not time to get my coat . Ok, maybe it doesn't come across here, but I was left both bemused & amused, certainly made my evening.
