Happy 60th Birthday to the Pan Horrors, published on this day in 1959. Thanks to the editors Herbert van Thal and Clarence Paget (and credit where it's due, it was Paget's brain child, he was the editorial director of Pan and he approached van Thal) all of the authors who have entertained me for many a year and sent me down a strange old road to where I find myself today. I'm sure life wouldn't have been any less interesting without the work I've tried to do in raising the profile of the Pan Horrors, it would have been a lot easier. As an interesting aside, Pan have granted me the licence for the Pan Horrors, using the official name and brand to do a 'best of' anthology which will hopefully come out next year - though with another publisher.

Sixty years for Pan - and next year marks fifty years since I had my first story published in the 11th Pan Book of Horror. God but time flies!

Sixty years, and people like me are still discovering them. I read two of them this year for the first time, and thought them often much more entertaining than the contemporary stuff.
