Hi there, I'm italian and my english isn't pretty good but I need your help. I've read the book "The girl in the cellar" by Allan Hall and the author mentioned a short story but he didn't tell what was the title of the story or the name of the author. The quote is "the precise theme of a story in a Pan Book of Horror stories from the 1970s in which a hapless, cellar-bound female kidnap victim is reduced to a rat-eating, half mad skeleton after her captor ends up in hospital for six months after a road crash". I'm going crazy about trying to find the story mentioned, I've tried with many combinations of keywords but google didn't help. If this half plot reminds you something, please tell me what the story could be. Thank you
From the first, I set myself against "literature"; the story was the thing, and no amount of style could persuade me to select a story that lacked genuine, unadulterated horror. For those who wanted something high-brow there was plenty.
