I saw news of Willum's passing posted last night on the Clark Ashton Smith fan group I am on, but could not find an obit. I'd hoped perhaps it had been announced in error.
I haven't read any of Willum's tales but they do sound right up my eyrie, so to speak. I enjoyed some youtube videos by Willum I watched a couple of years ago.
My thoughts go out to all who were fond of Willum and enjoyed his company. He was unquestionably an original.

I knew Pugmire only as a participant on the Eldritch Dark forum. Since you are supposed to say something nice on occasions such as these, I will say he was harmless.

I knew Pugmire only as a participant on the Eldritch Dark forum. Since you are supposed to say something nice on occasions such as these, I will say he was harmless. There are certainly many worse things to be. But he was also glorious. I met him only once, before all his gloriosity came out. He was quiet and fey. He found himself afterwards. And his work in the Lovecraftian field (not one I'm terribly knowledgable on, I admit) was, I think, very highly thought of. Here's a nice piece on him: deepcuts.blog/2019/03/27/editor-spotlight-w-h-pugmire/

Too bad about some uncorrected scanning errors (at least, that is my explanation for some of the very odd typos) in Bobby Derie's obit. I'm not at all familiar with this "punk rock" approach to Lovecraft's legacy. Sounds like it might be interesting to read.
Best wishes,
Steve

This is sad. I have a few of his tales in Lovecraft themed anthologies. He sure was prolific.

Punk Lovecraft - "Gabba-Gabba-Cthulhu- fhtagn"? Sad to hear about Mr Pugmire. I enjoyed those of his stories that I had read, and his YouTube videos revealed him to be quite an interesting character (and I don't just mean visually). I also got the impression (and I may be incorrect) that he managed to avoid personal attacks and nastiness towards other Lovecraftian authors and critics, which is admirable in a field that seems far too prone to such behaviour. I read Willum's tale "Phantom of Beguilement" in an anthology just now. So evocative and poetical. And a fitting homage to the world of "The Terrible Old Man" and Lovecraft's "Kingsport" period.
I look forward to reading more work by Willum.

I recently enjoyed August Derleth's Innsmouth legend "The Fisherman of Falcon Point" and it was delightful to view Willum's video of a decade or more ago discussing it. I'm glad Willum enjoyed the story as much as I did. www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFZ_60HIp68So eccentric and offbeat--I love it. H.
