Congratulations, Ro and Lurkio! Have a feeling both volumes will very soon be as collectable as the elusive The Satyr Books of Ghost Stories. Though hopefully not as dangerous to own... I don't get it.

Though hopefully not as dangerous to own... I don't get it. It's a reference to something from the Vault Advent Calendar 2017 thread in the Seriously Off Topic section of the board. In short, you'll not find many people still living who can convincingly claim to have owned copies of the various volumes of The Satyr Book of Ghost Stories...

I mean that if I'd just typed "you'll not find many people still living who can claim to have owned copies of the various volumes of The Satyr Book of Ghost Stories", then I'd be leaving it open for someone to simply post, "I own copies of the various volumes of The Satyr Book of Ghost Stories" and prove that sentence wrong, as it is, of course, incredibly easy to make a claim if there's no onus to back the claim up. Simple as that.

The latest Sarob Blog post reveals that copies of A Ghost & Scholars Book of Folk Horror are printed and will be going out shortly, and also reveals the author of the next Sarob collection which should, hopefully, be out in time to provide a selection of Ghost Stories for Christmas. Very exciting news... though I may be a little biased there... sarobpress.blogspot.com/2018/09/a-ghosts-scholars-book-of-folk-horror.htmlIs this yer new book?

Nope. There are aren't so many crossword and word-search puzzles, dice games and comic strips in my new book.

Well, as Hallowe'en creeps ever closer, what better time to finally, formally, announce my new collection of ghost stories, By No Mortal Hand? I am absolutely thrilled that Sarob Press, publishers of so many of my favourite recent ghost story collections, are publishing this volume, which can now be pre-ordered, with publication scheduled for December... ideal timing for a group of tales who owe more than a little inspiration to the tradition of ghost stories for Christmas. sarobpress.blogspot.com/2018/10/new-title-news-by-no-mortal-hand.html

Looks like a must - great cover art too. Thanks, James. Yes, the cover art by Paul Lowe is marvellous. I'm delighted to have a cover by the excellent Mr Lowe, whose artwork I've been such a fan of for years. The full wraparound cover is fantastic. The cover image is based on the following extract from one of the stories in the collection; The image he scrutinised in the glass panel showed a robed man who kneels amid a landscape of tombs and urns, while a gaunt woman with the face of a crone peering from under her mantel and a candle grasped in a wizened right hand, describes a circle upon the ground with the end of the wand gripped in her left hand. Within this circle symbols and writing may obscurely be glimpsed, although their deciphering defied even the keenest eye. From the very ground within that ring of cryptograms the third figure rises, its back to the onlooker, its face concealed by a cowl or hood, and with an arm of fearful thinness raised and pointing to the kneeling form.-from In A Distant Vista

James, thank you so much for mentioning the Count Stenbock volume as supervised by Mr Tibet. I did order it tonight via a prominent online retail outlet but am not sure the order is going to be filled since the shipping did not seem right. Guess I'll find out.
And Daniel, I'm sure your book will be a marvelous treasure!
Best wishes, Steve

Cheers, James Yes, and "In A Distant Vista" is a great choice as it's one of the best new stories in the book (Dan gave me an advance look at all of them!). It's going to be a brilliant collection: one of Sarob's best, I reckon.

"In A Distant Vista" is a great choice as it's one of the best new stories in the book (Dan gave me an advance look at all of them!). Well, new- ish, given that it was originally published in 1908... Thanks for the kind words, all. It's all rather exciting to have reached this stage with the book and to finally be able to release the details.
