Noah Brown - Energy Realms #1 ( Top Class Comics, March 2018) "It's over-the-top reprehensible adult pulp action, as you'd expect ....." Many thanks to Noah Brown of Normal Man infamy (they're back!) for sending on a pdf of Energy Realms #1. Three strips. Sensual Terrors introduces Pat Lord, "a gifted [occult] practitioner with a unique lineage," chivalrous to a fault, but prone to episodes of psychotic brutality when crossed. Pat falls under the spell of the succubus Achlyssa Latona, an outlaw witch intent on unleashing a Homunculus capable of destroying mankind. Meanwhile, World Trasher, Perry and Baby Boyhead - collectively known as Power Squad - find a new planet (and an Old Folk's home) to destroy in SF adventure The Mysterious Zone. Finally, and perhaps most disgusting of all, a week of drink, hard drugs, bad sex and mindless violence with Whiskey Weasel & Stabber Duck. Be warned. In Noah's world even the (very rare) sympathetic characters are, at best, borderline homicidal. 48pp, A5 with colour covers. £5 inc postage UK/£8 rest of world/£2 link to digital copy - pay by Paypal to topclasscomics ATgmail.com You can read Noah's short horror story, A Surprise For Sarah, HERE.

It's doubtless an old age thing, but I never get the same thrill reading from a screen as I do from a physical copy of exactly the same material. Case in point, The Mysterious Zone in Energy Realms. Could be that it's a grower, but, whereas initially it kind of washed over me, second time around - in hard print - I found it hilariously vile. The Power Squad grow stronger with their every murder, particularly those perpetrated on the defenceless. Of course, Noah being Noah sets them loose on a hospitable alien, an old folk's home and .... orphaned toddlers. Another strip concludes with the despairing/ mocking caption, "DAMN! SOMETIMES GOOD THINGS HAPPEN TO THE WORST PEOPLE!" Not sure if he's still writing horror fiction, but Energy Realms bodes well for the second coming of Mr. Brown's punk combo, Normal Man.
