Hi. I would like to edit a compilation translated into Spanish with the best pulp stories in the public domain, better if they are not the best known (to avoid that they are already translated, although we could include the best, such as those of the masters authors Robert E Howard, "Pigeons from Hell" is it in public domain?, or Lovecraft's best stories..., but is better to select other of not so famous authors. I am searching stories in Guttenberg Project, PulpGen, Archive.org, PulpMags, and Wikisource.
Which ones would you recommend? For example, a list with the 10 best stories, one or two of your favorite genres: Spicy, Weird, Mystery, Shudder, Sci-fi, Hardboiled, Mystery, Horror, Western, War, etc ...

Hello. Thank you very much for your suggestions, I am going to look at them. However, I have some doubts about the stories published in Horror Stories (Frederick C. Davis - The Mole Men Want Your Eyes), and others Popular Publications Magazines (Terror Tales, etc.), which according to wikipedia are copyrighted by Steeger Properties. Are these stories in the public domain? Another very, very good storie is "Russell Gray - Fresh Fiances For The Devil's Daughter", and in this case I think it are in the public domain, like all the magazines of the red circle of Martin Goodman (Marvel Tales, Mystery Tales, Unncany ..., etc.) Is it correct?
In addition to your suggestions, I am also working with my own list of exquisite rarities, such as these (See which you like more. The themes are varied, there is a bit of everything):
Doom of the House of Duryea. By Earl Peirce, JR Stolen Brains. By Captain S. P. Meek A Little Journey. By Ray Bradbury Talent. By Robert Bloch The Terrible Tentacles of L-472. Sewell Peaslee Wright Blood-Bait for Hungry Mermaids. By John Wallace Black Pool for Hell Maidens by Hal K. Wells Drink or Draw. By E. Hoffmann Price Mystery On Dead Man Reef. By George Armin Shaftel Death Mates for the Lust-Lost by Hugh J. Gallagher Six Shells Left. by Allan R. Bosworth The Kiss and Kill Murders. By Stewart Sterling Labyrinth of Monsters. Robert Leslie Bellem Isle of the Undead. By Lloyd Arthur Eshbach Vine Terror. By Howard Wandrei Ooze. By Anthony M. Rud

Russell Gray alias Bruno Fischer was reprinted in 2014 by John Pelan and his Dancing Tuatara Press. The stories were reprinted by arrangement with Argosy Communications. At least Volume 2. Don't have Vol 1 which included "Fresh" handy at the moment but will check it tomorrow.

Yerboya, have read - and very much enjoyed - a number from your list. Labyrinth Of Monsters was the first Bellem I read and remains an all-time favourite. Would love to see him represented in your book. Blood-Bait For Hungry Mermaids is likewise glorious. Not such a fan of Ooze - always struck me as a little too long and drawn out, though I like his other WT contributions a lot. Not read Stolen Brains, Vine Terror or The Terrible Tentacles of L-472 but like the sound of them. Are you planning to reproduce the original artwork? The copyright minefield has defeated far brighter minds than mine. I note that some of the free pdf's provided by the wonderful SFF audio are flagged as public domain in Canada (but not, it seems, the US. I have no idea where that leaves the Rest of the World). Steve, I'm not sure if Behind The Blinds is PD. I took a chance on it, as I did with the Birkin stories. To date have received no complaints about any of the vintage stories we've included over the six years.

Hello! Thanks for the opinions I have discarded "Ooze" and I already passed "Labyrinth Of Monsters" and "Blood-Bait For Hungry Mermaids" to my collaborating friends for translating. And yes, I would like very much to include de artwork, because it is fantastic, but it is much effort for us, anyway I am going to trying it. Also, I'm still searching more good stories.

In the first Gray collection by Pelan - which included "Fresh Fiances" - are no further copyright notices. He just acknowledges their origin.

Thanks! As for as I know, all "Red Circle" magazines, as Marvel Tales (Fresh Fiances), Mystery Tales, etc..., fell out in public domain, i think.

Ah, in that case, Donald Graham's crazed Revelry In Hell might suit. Robert Weinberg included it - along with other equally choice selections from Uncanny Tales- in his independently published Pulp Classics 3. Revelry In Hell back in 1974, with a note that there was "no record of copyright renewal." I'm not sure if it's available on-line yet, but might be worth a try. Failing that, any Donald Graham shudder pulp you can find is worth considering!

I'm afraid these days my idle hours are taken up with renovating our board after the ph*tob**ket fiasco, but maybe towards Christmas..... In the meantime, I think some of the stories on this thread might appeal, and I've copies of each. Just give me a shout if you're interested.

Hello! Althougt a lot of time has passed we have abled to complete a list of stories for translating to spanish, in a printed volumen, and we have included three of your suggestions (I dont put links, for not make spam)
- Blood-Bait for Hungry Mermaids - The Woman with the Velvet Collar - I am a Monster
Now, I am going to search new stories for a next volume. Maybe "Underbody" will be selected (althougt I prefer "The Damp Man". but it has a copyright by weird tales on wikisource), together another suggestions, as Reverly in Hell (but I don't have this), or others. I'd like to read our suggestions about this questions.
Thank you, very much.
