Hope Justin won't mind, but here's the relevant page from Paperback Fanatic 3 (2007: The first issue was actually named PulpMania! and the second Paperback Dungeon). It's odd, but I prefer the Best horror Stories cover in b/w. Was quite disappointed when I eventually got to see a copy at a pulp fair. The Case Against Satan cover is a beauty, has a kind of 'Carry On Up The Exorcist' vibe to it, or so it seems to me.

Sadly my CASE AGAINST SATAN is a much later reprint, and has dropped the branding. I also have John Blackburn's BURY HIM DARKLY somewhere - with the GREATEST cover ever, but I'll be buggered if I can find it at the moment... I know the one you mean: its the cobwebbed skeleton in the half open sarcophagus, isn't it. Cracking cover. Wish I had it. Particularly as I'm on a Quixotic quest to compile a full collection of Blackburns in their original editions. Not to denigrate Valancourt - I mean its terrific that they've brought him back into print - but their editions can't really hold a candle to the original packaging. Not that I'll ever complete the quest; DEEP AMONG THE DEAD MEN and the very late Hales will see to that. But as the Silver Surfer so sagely put it: "Is a fight to be fought only when victory is certain?"

What's the year, Primrose, on that book? Nastassja K was born in 1961 so if the book is from 1970 or '71, I think it is several years too early to have been her in the photo. Thanks again for the excellent photos! H. Ha, 1970 - so she would have been, erm...9. All I can say is that the drugs I currently have to take are really rather good weird and mess my brain up even more than normal

I foresee a gutting of my bookcases again *sob*

Wow, Denis Gilmore was adorable! I love a cute ginger. (I think this is reacting to a different thread but "can't be bovvered" to do a separate post.)
Many thanks for those fascinating scans, Dem! I think I've seen that Ray Russell book here before. What a hoot! Looks like one of Satan's co-eds is using the crucifix as her biccie for teatime. Naughty! Mother Superior will be sharpening her rule in readiness for the inevitable chastisement.
Now that's entertainment!
cheers, H.

Nastassja was quite precocious. One of my roommates years ago had a huge, framed picture of Nastassja posing with a snake, if I'm not hallucinating the specifics of that recollection again. He told me she was 13 or 14 when the photo was taken.

Hahaha! "Mary awoke from the all night bacchanalia at Castle Frankenstein dimly aware that something had gone seriously wrong... this was no ordinary hangover."
Lurve eeet!
cheers, Dem!
