Anon - Tales Of The Supernatural (Pan 1951, originally 1947) Carl Wilton Edward Bulwer Lytton - The Haunted and the Haunters Guy de Maupassant - The Horla Alexander Pushkin - The Coffin-Maker Tom Hood - The Shadow of a Shade Robert Louis Stevenson - Markheim M. R. James - The Haunted Dolls' House Walter de la Mare - Seaton's Aunt Hugh Walpole - The Little Ghost By now over-familiar selection. Of appeal to recent converts, fans of fetching paperback cover art and completists. Not to be confused with ... Anon – Tales Of The Supernatural (Panther, June 1962) H. G. Wells – The Plattner Story Michael Joseph – The Yellow Cat Daphne du Maurier – Escort Washington Irving – The Specter Bridegroom Algernon Blackwood – Keeping His Promise Lady Cynthia Asquith – The Corner Shop Gerald Kersh – The Brighton Monster Robert Louis Stevenson – The Body-Snatcher M. R. James – Casting The Runes

What a useful word, "completeist"! I won't be getting either, but love the Pan cover....

OMGss I love that Panther cover! Really nice work.
I'm not familiar at all with the name Tom Hood. Is he discussed elsewhere on the Vault?
cheers, H.

Thanks, Dem!
Poor fellow died around aet. 39. So, not much time to write, all things considered. I do know the name Thomas Hood but can't recall what, if anything I may have read--possibly just saw his name in poetry anthologies.
