Was just wondering if any other Vaulters ever frequent Skoob Books at all? Its a decent general second-hand bookshop situated just off of Marchmont Street behind Russell Square but so off the beaten track that you only tend to learn of its existence by word of mouth. Its not somewhere you ever pop in to through passing by. The entrance, which is tucked away, is only the opening to a stairwell in any case which descends into a subterranean expanse like some huge amphibian's belly: heating and ventilation pipes writhe across the ceiling like bulging intestines.
Its a pretty well stocked shop, albeit one a bit pricier than the outlets on Charing Cross Road. But the SF/Fantasy/Horror section is a permament fixture at least and boasts a fair range of stuff. Picked up a really nice early printing of the DUNE paperback there last year. Worth checking out anyway if you're in the vicinity.

I have, but it was sometime last century when the shop was located at 19 Bury Place, Bloomsbury. Very pleased to see they have survived. Just checked out their site. Open 10.30-6pm Sundays, so maybe one to take in post Paperback & Pulp book fair on April 30th in unlikely event of us not having already skinted ourselves. Skoob

There are some amazing second-hand bookshops tucked away in the dark corners of this pestered isle - in varying proportions quirky, weird, warped and inspired. I'm sure there are many Vault inmates with their own favourite haunts. Maybe a new thread for someone (or for me when I've got more time...).
