The ANNUAL SCROUNGEBride of Dem December is fast creeping up on us like the slimy bastard it is and, assuming you've the stomach for another one (a big assume), that means we need to give some thought to a seventh Vault Advent Calendar. Situation, same as always. 24 days to fill, zero stories in reserve *, and I just wasted only illustration. What we need! Short horror & supernatural fiction, conte cruels, illustrations, bonus stuff for exciting 'Vault stocking fillers' department that nobody ever reads. Everything. Guidelines. Just look at previous calendars. Alternatively, suggested themes include spectres, mummies, pervy priests & creepy nuns, trad. ghouls, man-eating plants, black sorcery, gorgons, sport-horror crossovers, nature is revolting, women in peril, giant insects, MAD SCIENTISTS, werewolves, vampires (if you must), grave-robbers, whatever you fancy. NO BRAINY STUFF NOBODY CAN UNDERSTAND. NO NICENESS. NEW FACES, OLD FACES EQUALLY WELCOME. Want to join the VAC scene? Please send your stories & pics, etc to whitechapelgothic AT.gmail.com and will get back to you ASAP (most likely this weekend). * Actually, that's a fib. We've two ace stories held over from last year!

It's a stampede of one two! Just the 21 20 slots left to fill. So, to answer own question. We are having one. It just might be a bit small.

I was only thinking about this the other day. I always look forward to the advent calendar. Christmas depresses me a bit these days. I think it may come with age, but I do love a bit of pulpy advent goodness.

I was thinking about typing up Flavia Richardson's tale "Pussy." Is that something you could use? I have a bit of downtime this weekend so it's pretty much now or never...
cheers, H.

That would be absolutely lovely! Thank you so much. If you've not yet done so, you can read 'Flavia's Behind The Blinds here. Very recommended!

Yes, I really enjoyed reading BEHIND THE BLINDS. What a delectably unpleasant, not to mention kinky, bit of crumpet!
Should I just PM you the file when I'm done? It would just be the text in electronic form. I can't supply any nice layout or such.
cheers, H.

No worries about nice layouts - we've never bothered with them before, so no point starting now.

Oh smart. So how come nobody reminded me that November only has 30 days? Illustration: Chrissie Demant Day one. A very MAD TOXICOLOGIST believes his wife and friend have been carrying on behind his back. Time to test that new super-poison ... Can't tell you much about H[arold]. Thompson Rich (1893 - 1974). He he had eight stories published in Weird Tales between April 1925 and October 1926, two of which were rerun by Christine Campbell Thomson in the Not At Night's. Other credits include a six part serial, The House In The Fog, in Ghost Stories (Jan-June 1931) and demon flower of the Okefenokee swamp shocker, The Beast Plants ( Argosy, July 1930. Famous Fantastic Mysteries, April 1940). After an absence of twelve years, he made a final appearance in Weird Tales with Green Horror in the famously all but bereft of interior artwork issue dated August 1938. It certainly sneaks up. I'd forgotten it started today myself. This was a great little story to start with. It must be a bugger to go to all that trouble only for the realisation to dawn. Oops! doesn't really cover it I suspect. very good. Loved it.

It seems like no time at all since the start of last year's calendar and here we are again--where does all that time go to? I haven't read anything by this author before and am looking forward to reading this one tonight .

I'd been planning to get back into long walks in the hills again but now I'm not so sure....

That one certainly lived up to the title of where it first appeared. A very good start to this year's calendar.

I'd been planning to get back into long walks in the hills again but now I'm not so sure.... Chrissie Demant I should avoid theme parties, too, Dr. Proof. "She was no longer gay and laughing, but pale and stiff-necked. Angeluccia Girgenti, the lady with the velvet collar, had been guillotined." Day two. The Mayor is celebrated for his balles magnifique and tonight he's outdone himself. Centre-piece of the event, a dramatic reconstruction of Marie Antoinette's execution, starring Angeluccia, his flirtatious young wife, as the doomed Queen. What could possibly go right? In the blood-soaked hands of Gaston Leroux, absolutely nothing, which is why this disgusting glob of Grand Guignol awaits our delectation.
