The Worst Of The Vault Advent CalendarTime to go public on this, not least because the contributors have been remarkably patient (thank you!). Getting a Worst Of ... ready for Halloween was always a little too ambitious, and we can safely forget that happening. The good/bad news is the project is very much a goer, the thirteen stories have been selected and cleared, will bring you progress reports as and when we can, and our mystery publisher can finally be revealed as House Of Fanatic, from which you will gather that it is illustrated. Very. Publication date yet to be confirmed, but early 2017 looking likely. The one regret is that with 140+ pages to play with, there's not room to include a story from each of the thirty (!) contemporary authors who've kindly contributed to the various calendars, meaning over half will have had a lucky escape. Please don't feel too relieved as, should this one go OK (I know, I know. Can't believe I typed that either), well, publishers beware - omnibus edition, etc. is all I'm prepared to say at this stage .... N.B. That isn't the cover. It as a specimen copy of the printer's work for the Delius Soc, and trust me, if Worst Of is half as accomplished as their book, it will be a welcome addition to any self-respecting shelf of shame.

That's great news Dem. Finally some solid (as in you can touch it) recognition for the Vault. My only regret is that you are not using that sample cover which is incredible. House Of Fanatic too. Couldn't be a better match in Hell.

Can only echo Craig's sentiments. That cover is disturbing.

Thanks gents. Sorry to everybody for the news black out, but wanted to be at least 51% confident it was likely to happen. Draft looks promising, but work to be done. Will write to the contributors individually over coming days, after which any updates will appear on this thread. I love the he cover too, though it commemorates a very sad occasion for the Delius Society , the death of Mr. Robert Threlfall, a beloved member and leading light of their community. We offer our sincere condolences on their loss. Apparently the future of the journal is in some doubt (the situation to be resolved at next month's AGM), so we wish them the very best with that. It really is a very beautiful publication.

Once again I can only echo Mr Herbertson's sentiments. Apologies and best wishes to Mr Threlfall's family and friends. I hope they appreciated Ken Russell's Song Of Summer.

Not your fault, gents. If it was anyone's bad, it was mine as I could have mentioned the story behind the cover in original post. Honest, no offence was ever intended. I still think something along similar lines would make for a great Vault cover.

I don't know how many members of the Delius Society come here, but I'm sure they'd be impressed that their august journal was held up as a shining example of the printers art amidst Eat Them Alive, Boot Boys, Crabs On The Rampage and Dracula And The Virgins Of The Undead.

Will there be an ebook version? Sorry, Mr. Horror, but I think that is very unlikely

Will there be an ebook version? Sorry, Mr. Horror, but I think that is very unlikely I'll be holding out for the Special Collector's Edition, limited to minus six hundred and sixty-six copies, each bound in deluxe cloth-bound slabs of gravestone with the flesh of a contributor's face glued into the inside front cover, with an introduction by Stephen King consisting of the words 'Who are these people?' over and over again with the emphasis on a different word, syllable and letter.

I shall put some money aside now. I'll have to make room in my bedside cabinet. Not used to having to find 'real' space for 'real' books. Will it have an authentic musty smell?
