Well, I missed it when it was broadcast in 2005, so I've just finished watching the series on DVD - an hour-long first episode, then 10 more half hour installments.
With Jeremy Dyson as a co-writer and Mark Gatiss camping it up as a seedy, gay, German taxidermist, it's a sort of proto League of Gentlemen, although not quite as overtly bizarre, possibly because it's a thriller as well as a pitch-black comedy. I imagine the (first rate) cast had a ball - Roy Barraclough and Philip Jackson especially - as the plot twists round and round and the revelations get ever sleazier. One of those shows where there isn't a single normal character, as even some of the supporting roles make you want to take a shower after you've seen and heard them, and the kind of thing that makes you proud to be British, as this is the only country where such sticky, sleazy weirdness could end up on prime time TV. Blackpool will never look quite the same again.
Highly original, very funny, delightfully warped and extremely black. Just the sort of thing for Vault inmates...
