I don't have "Britbox" but perhaps I'll do a trial subscription. It won't be this weekend as I'm down in Florida visiting family and nobody else likes creepy Gothic horror in the family (one of many reasons I spent a lot of time away from home in my younger years).
Hope the film is every bit as good as you are wishing for it to be!
cheers, Hel.

Count Magnus was everything I was hoping it would be. The chap who played the innkeeper was wonderful. I think this is the closest Mark has got to a Gordon-Clarke in terms of production value.

Clarck Drieshen has done some research into A NEW YEAR'S EVE GHOST STORY and has discovered the manuscript James referenced while writing the story and a misidentification he made...

Thanks, Johnny, that was fascinating. Especially the fact that Azazel was one of the spirits invoked in that text.
Wishing you and yours an excellent 2023!
cheers, Steve

Michael, thanks for that you tube link. Interesting to see this. Having just viewed the film, it all feels like "much ado about nothing." It was pleasant enough with a couple of good shocks. I don't really care for Wraxall being portrayed as a silly, dithery old queen but the actor certainly brought the character to life. The best acting was from the innkeeper and the Countess. Probably the best shot in the story, for me, was towards the very beginning; Wraxall framed under the shadow of the scythe.
Regards, Steve

Overall, I thought it was a good version of an excellent original. I will watch it again.

Yes, thank you Michael, I enjoyed it too. When I last checked Youtube around Christmas, it wasn't there (yet) & of course may not be there for very long.
