This is without doubt, the greatest cover photo I have ever seen. Coming soon from Snuggly Books and available for pre-order. Justin Isis [ed.] - Marked to Die: A Tribute to Mark Samuels Original stories inspired by the writings of the great man. Contributors include Reggie Oliver, Thana Niveau, John Llewellyn Probert, Adam Nevill, Mark Valentine, Simon Clark, Stuart Young, et al (though sadly no Richard Stains). And yes, there IS a paperback edition! Details: Marked To Die

There's only one Richard Staines! For which we can all be truly thankful. I hope at least one of the stories was inspired by Cannibal Kings Of Horror. Scrub that. I hope they all were.

And another title added to the "shut up and take my money" pile.

I read Mark Samuels' wonderful story "The Gentleman from Mexico" in an anthology this morning. Grand, gorgeous stuff. I loved the ethnographic details of the sleazy, suffocating horror that is Mexico City as much as the plot, which was horrifically entertaining. Quite a bit of Spanish dialogue but an online translator can help with that (I just worked it out from my own minimal knowledge of the language and related tongues). Another tale by Samuels is included in this interesting-looking zine, Dagon, issue 6 dated 1989. Issue includes an interview with Vault fave rave Karl E. Wagner: s3.us-west-1.wasabisys.com/luminist/FZ/DA_1989_06.pdfHel.
