Usual irregular Calendar supplement. Stocking fillers & thrillers, the occasional bonus pdf download, news snippets, hate mail, billet doux, general festive malarkey, shut up and get on with it, etc. Have Severance to thank for this one - and I do! Included amongst the top notch fiction and 'non-fiction' in Allan Barnard's Ripper anthology, The Harlot Killer (Dell, 1953), is the following Anthony Boucher translation of an uncredited Spanish Sherlock Holmes story ..... Thanks to James Doig for providing the vintage Christmas illo ....this time last year! Attachments:Jack El Destripador.pdf (103.63 KB)

I've not come across either collection nor story before. Well done, Dem. That one was all down to Sev, who so kindly sent me his copy of the book. Keep an eye on this thread, Rip, as it is very much part of this year's calendar. Truth is, my threat of implementing Phase II of the aggressive begging campaign (codename 'Operation Nauseate),' was taken rather seriously in some quarters, and very soon I was receiving stories from people I never even heard of with accompanying notes beseeching me in the name of all that's holy never to contact them. This section will therefore include any overspill, augmented by a few slightly deranged selections of which Jack El Distripador is certainly one.

Great stuff, Dem. I shall look forward to seeing what other delights you have got for us--and thanks, of course, to Sev.

Here's one of those bonus treats I told you about, and this one actually is. Marion Bondage/ Gloomy Sundae "marvellous" Graphics Library Seems an age ago, but back on Day Five we ran Rosa Praed's superb Ms Crosson's Familiar. Good atmosphere, straightforward anecdotal story. Who the hell is Beatrix Bray and what was her obsession? Anyone know? At a guess, Beatrix Bray was the woman who lived in 'The House of Ill Omen,' the subject of an earlier interconnected story in the same book, but maybe James will confirm later? I'm sure her obsession was a corker. That's right - she comes to a nasty end in "The House of ill Omen." I'll pass it on, but I can't find a Word version at the moment. James has since kindly forwarded The House Of Ill-Omen and, trust me, it is no disappointment ....

Lets get this party terminated; Chrissie Demant The following macabre prose poem, Picture This by Anna Taborska, first appeared in Aaron Polson's 52 Stitches: Horror Stories: Vol 2 (Strange Publications, 2010) "Short fiction for every week of the year," and was reprinted in the 873 page (!) Zombiefest Charity Anthology, The Tall Book of Zombie Shorts: Vol. One (S.T.A.L.K.E.R., 2013). Has since been confirmed that Anna's Autumn had not seen publication prior to it's appearance as part of our Mortbury Press double-feature. Seems the editor it was submitted to "lost it in her inbox and never used it"!

Told you there would be some ace stuff on this thread! A bonus, brand new haunted house story by Craig Herbertson featuring key players in the Bellport High saga. Was going to hold this back until Boxing Day, but that seemed too much like tempting fate.

Just catching up with these excellent seasonal tales during holidays in Perth - very nice indeed. Craig's is a ripper! Thank you for all your help in hacking this one together, James. The Dawe and Praed stories are excellent. Assume you're spending Christmas in a bookshop on the beach?

Well, there are less than 3 hours to go, so it's about time for the resident shrink to wish all the inmates of this particular asylum a thoroughly cool Yule.
With lots of crackers and plenty of stuffing....
