Bits & Pieces is a gruesome accessory set for 12 inch figures released by Shrunken Head Studios, a very nice new company that is also doing a figure of Nathan Grantham from Creepshow! This set is designated Series 1, so hopefully they'll release a Series 2 sometime in the future! The box is just plain awesome. The front shows a Tales from the Crypt-like scene of an axe-wielding maniac standing over some poor schmoe's severed head. It's actually a slipcover and it comes off to reveal a window front box comprising different layers, offering loads of protection for the (ahem) bits and pieces while also allowing them to remain visible. It consists of four weapons and two body parts for a total of six pieces. The four weapons are: Woodsman Axe (a standard axe), Medieval Axe (a very large battle axe), Machete (exactly what it sounds like) and Meat Cleaver (ditto). They're made of a light but seemingly durable plastic with "wood" handles and "rusty," "bloody" blades. Some of them have bits of white (bloodstained) cloth wrapped 'round their handles forming improvised grips. They look really nasty and gruesome. So detailed, in fact, I slightly worry I might actually get tetnus from them! The body parts are a Severed Head and a Severed Arm. The head is a random brown-haired Caucasian man who bears a slight resemblence to Nicholas Cage (!). The skin is quite pale, with a bloody stump where his neck used to be and blood dribbling from his mouth. There's a massive gash across his forehead into which the four weapons' blades can be inserted to simulate a kill. The most impressive part are his eyes, which are rolled back with a greenish, faded tint indicating utter deadness. The arm is, well, an arm; nothing terribly special about it, but nice-looking nonetheless. I got the set through Cotswold (their last, in point of fact), and it goes wonderfully with my DAM Toys Private Jakob figure. He looks especially good holding the arm like he's about to chow down on it! Zombies gotta eat, y'know!
