Okay,I am looking for a short horror story I read as a child. It was a collection of short stories but the one I remember was about 3boys who are dared to go camping in some cabin. However, they are told an escaped mental patient could be near the cabin. Thinking they are being tricked, they go anyway. During the night two of the boys go to gather fire wood and do not return. They do fire the flares they took in case of danger, the third boy, still in the cabin, is terrified and blocks the door from the inside, he hears scratching and noises outside. He eventually falls asleep and is awakened by a car horn, its the boy who dared the 3 boys, coming to pick them up. He runs to the door and finds his friends dead, their heads bashed in and fingernails bleeding from scratching to get in. Now, I think it was a children's book, maybe published in the early 80's or seventies, not sure! I've been trying to find this book on vain, for years! Can anyone help? Please tell me what this book is, I'd be forever grateful! Thanks!
