Austin - The Challengers' chauffeur.
Mrs. Jessie Challenger - Professor Challenger's wife.
Policeman - A London constable who breaks up the fight between Challenger and Malone.
Maple White - An American explorer and artist who originally discovered the lost world, but died of an illness before returning to civilization.
Father Cristofero - A priest who White befriended on his journey.
Mr. Percival Waldron - A naturalist who gives a lecture at the Zoological Institute Hall. A hated rival of Challenger's.
Dr. Meldrum - A scientist attending Waldron's lecture.
Professor Ronald Murray - Chairman of the Zoological Institute, who presides over the lecture.
Professor Summerlee - Professor of Comparative Anatomy and a rival of Challenger's, who accompanies him on his expedition to the Amazon in an effort to disprove him, but quickly changes his mind after encountering living dinosaurs.
Lord John Roxton - A wealthy hunter and adventurer known for freeing South American Indians from slavery. He joins Challenger's expedition and becomes close friends with Malone.
Sir John Ballinger - A gentleman jock and Roxton's fellow tenant in his Vigo Street home.
Mr. Shortman - A representative of the British and Brazilian Trading Company.
Pedro Lopez - A half-breed slaver who oppressed the people of Brazil, until he was killed by Roxton.
Zambo - A South American guide hired by the expedition. He is loyal and dependable, and immensely strong.
Gomez - A half-breed hired by the expedition. He is Pedro Lopez's brother, and maroons the group on the plateau as revenge for Roxton killing his brother. Roxton shoots him.
Manuel - Another half-breed hired by the expedition, who conspires with Gomez. Killed by Zambo.
Mojo - A Mojo Indian boatman hired by the expedition. His real name is unknown; since he is the chief of the Mojo tribe, his employers simply call him Mojo.
José - A Mojo Indian hired by the expedition.
Fernando - A Mojo Indian hired by the expedition.
Ataca - An Indian hired by Challenger. He accompanied Challenger on his first journey.
Ipetu - An Indian hired by Challenger. He too was with Challenger when he made his original trip into the Amazon.
Dr. James Illingworth - A Scottish scientist from the University of Edinburgh who speaks at Queen's Hall. He is much disliked by both Challenger and Summerlee.
James Colver - Maple White's fellow explorer, killed by the ape men and found impaled on bamboo poles at the base of the plateau by Challenger's expedition.
King of the Ape-Men - The evil ruler of the ape-men, who bears a strong resemblance to Professor Challenger. Shot by Roxton.
Old Chief's Son - The son of the Accala Indians' chief, who is rescued from the ape-men by the expedition.
