I can't remember who recommended this to me, it was not that long ago. Can't find it with search. But I hunted down an anthology with Howard Waldrop/Steven Utley Black as the Pit, from Pole to Pole.
Wonderful, highly original story. I am not versed enough in all these hollow earth stories, to recognize all the worlds. But the idea, to put them all together and sending the Frankenstein Monster through them from the north to the south was great.

Always wanted to re-read the one with Opar. There are several. Off the top of my head, THE RETURN OF TARZAN, TARZAN AND THE JEWELS OF OPAR, and TARZAN AND THE GOLDEN LION. Also TARZAN THE INVINCIBLE.

Many thanks to whoever donated these to the Little Free Library box. I'm guessing these are not real Abominable Snowmen? Terrence Dicks - Dr. Who and the Abominable Snowmen (Target, 1974) Blurb: A single blow from the giant, hairy paw smashes the explorer to the ground. Terrified, he flees from the monster's glowing eyes and savage fangs... Why are the peaceful Yeti now spreading death and destruction? And what is the secret behind the glowing cave on the mountain? When DOCTOR WHO discovers that a long-dead friend is still alive, he knows why his visit to the lonely Himalayan monastery has led to a struggle to save the Earth! Terrence Dicks - Dr. Who and the Web of Fear (Target, 1977) Blurb: Forty years the Yeti had been quiet. A collector's item in a museum. Then without warning it awoke - and savagely murdered. At about the same time patches of mist began to appear in Central London. People who lingered anytime in the mist were found dead, their faces smothered in cobwebs. The cobweb seeped down, penetrating the Underground System. Slowly it spread... Then the Yeti reappeared, roaming the misty streets and cobwebbed tunnels, killing everyone in their path. Central London was gripped tight in a Web of Fear...

Very cool! Not on topic for the thread, but I just started reading Donald Cotton's Target paperback novel version of the lost serial The Myth Makers, which is a bit of fun. Almost reminiscent of The Goon Show at times. It could have been titled Carry On, Agamemnon.
cheers, Hel.

The Web of Fear is among my very early memories of watching Dr Who and it wasn't that long ago that I read the novelisation after first reading it in the 70s. It's very enjoyable. As for The Abominable Snowmen, my memory is much fuzzier on seeing it. The novelisation is okay imo, though I prefer the setting of the tube over the Tibetan monastery.
