The blue face is the one I have. It unexpectedly escaped pulping by Oxfam and turned up in one of their bookshops a couple of years ago. But the woman and hand one is much more in the spirit of Peter Saxon, the times it emanated from and even the film. I hadn't seen it before.

Scream And Scream Again is sci-fi horror!

Sev originally alerted us to the classic Mayflower-Dell original ... Peter Saxon – The Disorientated Man (Mayflower-Dell, Sept. 1966) Blurb: A boy runs screaming through the night.
He has stumbled on the body of a girl, terribly mutilated. It looks like the work of a prowling sex-maniac, but police investigations reveal much more. The terror they are hunting is more than human; the search they have started will uncover a terrifying mixture of rape, blood lust, murder, scientific diabolism and ruthless human vivisection, backed by a deadly political force.
In an ordinary suburban recreation-ground The Thing first makes its presence known. A presence more savage than savagery itself…more terrifying than terror. As much beyond human comprehension as it is beyond human decency and human laws…

Scream and Scream Again is getting a UK release again from Radiance films www.radiancefilms.co.uk/products/scream-and-scream-again-leI wouldn't normally post a movie related item in a pulp novel thread but the release contains this extra that may be of interest: - Ramsey Campbell on Christopher Wicking and ‘Peter Saxon’ (2023)

I'll be very interested to hear what he has to say on the subject, despite already owning two Region A versions of this one. I've always wondered who the Peter Saxon who novelised CORRUPTION was.

I wonder whether the novelization of that film makes more sense than the movie itself did. I finally saw it earlier this year as it was streaming for free on a popular retail internet site. I enjoyed it for what it was, but loopy doesn't begin to describe the plot. At least it left me wondering what the hell I had just seen. Great little scene for Christopher Lee in the finale.

Aha! Excellent! Although I am surprised to see only one author cited for Disorientated Man - it feels like the work of three people with no idea what each other was doing!

It's not a novelisation, Steve - the book came first. One of my little irks was how critics like Kim Newman praised Chris Wicking's 'kinetic script' from a pulp novel, when all he really did was copy it almost scene for scene. John, it may feel like three writers to you, but this suggests you've never struggled through any of Steve Francis' more 'written in a night' Hank Jansons! If you have, then it makes perfect sense...

Thanks for explaining that, Pulphack! Some of the movie was really quite funny.

Just looking at the top of this thread, the US Paperback Library edition featured in the original post screams "A Black Magic novel of terror" but there's no black magic and nothing supernatural involved. Deliberate false advertising, or a copy writer who couldn't be fussed to read the bloody thing?

I really enjoyed Radiance Films' recent blu-ray release of the film, which offers the rarely seen UK edit of the film and the previously available on DVD and blu-ray US cut. Though the differences are minor, the UK cut has a few extra lines between Christopher Lee and Vincent Price which extend their all-too-brief interaction in the film. It's a film that grows on me with each subsequent rewatch. Alfred Marks' turn as Bellaver is terrific. I can easily imagine a spin-off series where Bellaver and Donald Pleasence's Calhoun from Death Line trade sarcastic quips while rounding up villains and monsters.

Already have two other blu-ray editions, but I’m still picking up this new one for the alternate versions. Always a fun movie, ever since I first saw it late night on ITV in the 70s. Michael Gothard’s modern-day ripper, still impresses.

Hello I'm new here and have been desperately searching for a copy of "The Disorientated Man" aka "Scream and Scream Again". Can anybody help me out with a copy in any shape or form for a reasonable price? As I said I've only just joined so I hope this post is okay. My interest has recently been piqued once more by the rather good Radiance blu-ray in the UK: it's a shame they didn't include the book with the disc, even if only in PDF form as an extra. Thanks in advance!
