Death Number 5 presents more Theatre Of Blood grotesquerie in a religious setting, and the diabolical Dr Valentine introduces himself, in the Church Of St Valentine no less. The police are now beginning to piece things together, with the assistance of a haughty film critic in a (huzzah!)velvet jacket. Turns out Death No 5 is actually Death No 6 as another bizarre demise occurred previously (like Dr Phibes bees/boils business) that the chief 'tec has no trouble linking to The Tingler in hindsight, thanks to his two hour Vinny the P lecture and a stack of horror DVDs. This is proving very amusing, especially the hapless policeman's attempts to describe his horror film links to his boss.

Barnstorming finale at a Gothic pile out in the country. J & B product placement, and Poetastic finish that has our hero detective charging from the pub to save his WPC from the horrors of the pendulum. What a tonic this was!

FM, is yours the Spectral one, the Snowfall paperback, or are you reading the Omnibus? I'm glad His Worship has left it open as to whether we ever learn the specifics on Dr. V and Christina's Roman excursion.

I think I might be able to get The Hammer reasonably, so will go for that next. Although the Omnibus is very tempting.
