The end came yesterday morning at 10.25, and our dear friend is now at peace. There were some magic moments to treasure during the bonus six weeks and, most precious of all, we were given the chance to exchange our goodbyes. My dear wife and I would like to sincerely thank the dedicated NHS staff who were wonderful throughout, and everybody who sent messages of support during what has been a sad and difficult time.

Thank you to everybody for their kindness, expressed both publicly and in private. We had the funeral on the 17th, a dignified, very beautiful affair (slight last minute hitch as the undertakers weren't sure which of us to bury) which compensates in no small way for what was, and is, going on behind the scenes. Suffice to say, there is a certain high street bank whose idea of what constitutes the role of a "bereavement team" has to be experienced to be disbelieved.
Anyway. I've several p.m.'s and emails to answer and am very glad of it, but would request your patience as there's little free time to be had just now. Same goes for the 'reviews'. Have been getting along famously with Thana's From Hell To Eternity, Paul Finch's Enemies At The Door and like what i've read to date of Mary Danby's Party Pieces - will toss off some rubbish anti-reviews ASAP. Will have to give the Pulp & Paperback fair a miss this year, so, to those of you who make it, hope you have a thrilling day out and let us know how it goes!
