Hey All, I have the US edition and can't say that I'm all that crazy about the flimsy cover. I was so underwhelmed with the quality of the "Vampire Archives" paper that i bought the 3 volume paperback set insted. What I do love with this anthology is all of the old pulp illustrations, the cover art and of cours the stories. I won't argue about wiehter all of these qualify as "Zombie" stories or not. I've read the first dozen or so stories and so far I find this to be a very strong anthology. A few of the stories were a little to cerebral for my tastes (I have a weakness for lowbrow.), but all in all, I've found it extremely enjoyable. If I wanted to be a nit-picker I would say that Mr. Penzler depended too heavily on Stephen Jones' Zombie anthology and the two "Book of the Dead" anthologies that came out in the 80s. Now to be fair though I think that the majority of these stories are not known to most younger readers.
And regarding weither or not these are all 100% pure "Zombie" stories, I think that finding enough good "Zombie" stories to fill an anthology of this size wa not an easy task.
Like I said, so far this is a wonderful collection and well worth the price of admission. I wonder if there are enough Werewolf stories out there for another such anthology?
take care. Doug

Maybe for you my friend. Fpr me, zombie is corporeal undead. Instead of being intelligent, haitian, flesh eating, cursed, or whatever something done with the past living being.

Yup, this anthology offers a lot of zombie incarnations: xidachane, romerian ghouls, lovecraftian ghouls, mummies, zompires, revenants, ghost-zombie hybrids. It´s wonderfull.
