Been trying hard to find a cover scan of this one. The U.S. Warner Books edition is easy enough to find, but the Hamyln cover just doesn't seem to exist anywhere. Anyone have this?

Afraid I can't help here, but this is certainly a new one on me. I know of Gary Brandner's The Brain Eaters in Hamlyn, but it appears you may have uncovered another Hamlyn nasty. I look forward to any developments on this.

Is this the same Morse who wrote those two P.I. novels The Big Enchilada and Sleaze? Great stuff, reads more like a parody of the genre, where the hero Sam Hunter has three woman a day when he isn´t pounding low-lifes into hamburger.

Yes, this is the same L.A. Morse who did the P.I. novels. The Flesh Eaters is about the Sawney Bean clan, fictionalized. Frank Frazetta did the cover for the American Warner Books version. Pretty cool cover, I thought, but Morse hated it, I guess. I'd very much to get a peak at the Hamlyn cover because, no offense to Frazetta, but I have a feeling Hamyln might just do it one better!

I did read something online about Hamlyn distributing the Warner book. Is there definitely a separate Hamlyn edition, or are they possibly only acting as distributor?

Hmmmm...now that's a good question, HP. You've got me curious. I assumed they were separate editions because Abebooks lists certain ones by Warner and others by Hamyln. I asked one of the booksellers in the UK if he could send me a scan of the Hamlyn edition. Sometimes they will, sometimes they won't. If I get it...then we'll know!

As far as I can tell there isn't a Hamlyn edition of this one. The Octopus library is housed at work, in theory every Hamlyn publication should be here and all the fiction I've looked for is. We have the Warner Books edition and its shelved with Hamlyn, suggesting some kind of rights agreement (though there's nothing in the title verso) but there's no sign of an actual Hamlyn. From a brief leaf through it does seem right at home as an honorary Hamlyn though, bloody crazy stuff...

Eventually got a copy of this. It's frightful and voyeurism incarnate
I know that this all about pulp horror, bit the semi historical style is damn disturbing!
Yuck
