I know this one sticks out like a sore thumb among the loincloths and lasers, but I had to post up, I was so delighted. I love Smith's whimsical fantasies (particularly Night Life of the Gods - the image of the goddess Hebe trundling around doling out nectar from a chamber pot because she mistook it for a krater has stuck with me for many, many years). I know they aren't everyone's cup of tea, but I personally rate them pretty high; gentle and yet with an edge of sharp social criticism which often gets overlooked. And they made some great films of them. But the library long ago disposed of its copies of every single one, and they are pretty damn expensive even in second-hand shops. So imagine my delight to find a whole selection has just shown up on Kindle - Topper, Skin and Bones, The Glorious Pool, and more. And the prices? 69 - 70 pence per book. It looks like someone is doing classic fantasy for Kindle, and I do hope they keep it up.
