I haven't watched any of those Nordic noir television programs, but I did just start reading I Remember You by Icelandic author Yrsa SigurĆ°ardĆ³ttir. She's typically billed as a crime/mystery writer, but the book's subtitle is A Ghost Story, so I'm not sure whether it'll wind up going supernatural or Scooby-doo. If I'm thinking of the same thing this had a quite good film. No spoilers, but it was one that seemed generic but ultimately came together in an unexpected relatively unusual and moving way. I'm pretty fond of Nordic noir, though the genre quibbler in me just wants to call them gloomy crime dramas. Particularly The Bridge, for the central extremely fastidious and wonderfully acted Swedish police lady Saga. I wound up enjoying I Remember You quite a bit (the book, not the film; I haven't watched the latter). The plot was twisty enough to keep me entertained, and the atmosphere creepy enough to satisfy my tastes. As for the supernatural/Scooby question, {Spoiler} the story ends up offering a bit of both.

I have a query which probably is best placed here rather than making a new thread. Does anybody recall an episode of an old anthology horror show in which a couple are menaced in their home by inexplicable dangerous rising temperatures and eventually fire, and in the end the camera pans out to reveal that their entire house is a model being microwaved by some giant or otherwise alien children? The landlady at my local has told me about this, thinking it was a Hammer House of Horror episode, but this seems not to be the case. Would love to know what it was and see it/let her know.

Did she say that it was in colour? Could it have been in black and white? I'm sure someone will be able to help.

It's the episode "Child's Play" from Hammer House of Mystery & Suspense (1984), directed by Val Guest.

Dr Strange what old British horror anthology episodes are worth watching? I'd like them to be before '90s. Maybe '70s or earlier. I see Beasts mentioned on here.

If I may butt in, the easier question might be "What aren't?" Dead of Night & Hammer House of Horror are two, I'm not sure if "Thriller" counts as horror, maybe some episodes.

As far as I know, most episodes of each are on Y**t*be; I'm pretty sure there are episode guides to help you choose which you'd prefer to see. I've seen & forgotten all I've watched....

Some good ones:
Mystery and Imagination (1966-1970; includes awesome version of Dracula starring Denholm Elliott, who's surprisingly good in the role) Brian Clemens' THRILLER (circa 1972-1978, not to be confused with the series of the same title hosted by Boris Karloff--which is also excellent, of course) Armchair Thriller--look for "Quiet as a nun" Supernatural, 1977--again, don't confuse with a tacky 21st century US series that ran for something like 2 decades
As Swampirella helpfully noted, at last check all these were on y o u t u b e .

Miss Scarlett my two favorite episodes of the Brian Clemens Thriller series are "Spell of Evil," with Diane Cilento as a very slinky 500 year old glam Witch on the make with the corporate types--she's so deliciously ruthless, so ridiculously over-the-top femme--and "Nurse will make it better" with a cackling Diana Dors in a ratty grey wig as pipe-smoking Bessy Morne. Delightful. Both are exercises in classic Gothic supernatural horror (my favorite kind).
