I was an avid reader and collector of the original magazine, although I don't own any copies now [swapped for a huge collection of Star Wars figures many years ago], and, when Forry died, I thought that was that. I actually sought out his telephone number, and rang him up,[many years prior to him dying, of course], actually managing to catch him on one occasion, and told him how much I loved his magazine, and how it had made me go and see a lot of the classic horror films, and in so doing, had made my life better. He was a really nice guy, who, when he asked me where I was ringing from, said that the call would cost my parents a packet [it did], and that I should ring off, but keep buying his magazine. I was very sad to find out that he'd had to move from the 'Son of Ackermansion' in 'Hollyweird, Karloffornia', to smaller premises which meant, by necessity that he had to sell a large part of his peerless horror, sci-fi, and fantasy memorabilia collection. I, like many others, was very sad when he died in 2008. I looked at a few copies of the new 'Famous Monsters Of Filmland'. But they're just not the same. Some of the charm has gone forever. I don't think I'll be getting any myself. ;D

I used to love buying these mags as a kid back in the late sixties/early seventies. Haven't had a chance to see how the new ones compare, though.
