Well this is odd, I've been invited by a professor of creative writing/gothic literature to give a LECTURE on the Pan Book of Horror Stories on Wednesday at the University of East Anglia. Going to talk about the Pan's then read a story from one of the books (Wally by Conrad Hill - should make them giggle) and then if there's time and excerpt from the collection, which I'll be flogging to death on the night. This is the strangest thing to have happened to me so far...

Congratulations, Johnny. Strange but unsurprising.
The Pan Book of Horror Stories has always been highbrow. We students in the Sixties carried them around with us.

And congratulations, Johnny. I'm sure you'll slay them - in the best possible ways, of course.

This is further tangible evidence of the dumbing-down process in British education. Good thing too.
Stick it to the cultural elitists, Johnny - and flog 'em loads of copies of 'With Deepest Sympathy' while you're there!

, Going to talk about the Pan's then read a story from one of the books So Kane was forced to miss the first reading of Night Winds. It often moved him to wondering regret. For although he was never to hear the masterwork of Opyros, the mad poet, Kane knew that his friend had in thruth found inspiration in the embrace of the dark muse. Opyros had in truth created the perfect poem of his dark genius. For as he left the palace of Halbros-Serrantho, the first horrified tales were spreading across the city - tales of what had awaited the frightened guards when they at last broke down the locked door of that now silent audience hall.Have fun and enjoy the experience

Well done Johnny. Don't forget to carry an old hold-all back with a couple of blood stained tools sticking out. At the end of the reading put that practiced glazed-eyes weird look in the eyes before announcing that you can't understand horror without a practical demonstration.

Well, the night went down a treat, about 20 people turned up - no-one fell asleep - there were two professors of Gothic Literature there and both of them really loved the talk and said I made no mistakes... There will be a few other pics to come - the event was filmed so they will be screengrabs.

Looks amazing. I'm kind of lost for words when I imagine how much work has gone into that. The background photos represent hours and years of endeavor. Well done.
