I've just heard from Charles that I can reveal there will be an eighth volume in the series. Furthermore, I know that I at least have a story in it, The Last Coach Trip., which is about the last annual trip by a Lancashire working men's club to Ripon Races before the club shuts its doors for good. It's a little autobiographical as I used to go on trips like this years ago before I got married.

Charlie told me a couple of days ago that my story, Tok, has made the cut.

Congratulations, David and Paul, on this.
I'm chuffed to report I managed to nab a slot alongside you both. My story Home By the Sea made the cut. And I read Simon Bestwick will be appearing too!

Those of you excited by this news will have to be patient, I'm afraid. There's much work to be done before this one emerges. And you'll have to wait even longer before you can read Simon Bestwick's tale, as that one will be in #9.

Well done all - the lineup's already looking cracking!
There'll be more Birkinesque nastiness from me in Volume 8 as well with 'How the Other Half Dies'

delighted to learn there are at least another juicy pair of Black Books to look forward to. the above demonstrates you've a top pool of contributors to work with, Dr. T.

I still have some way to go before the book is finished, but this is Paul's art for the cover of volume 8. Attachments:

I just love how flattering Mr Mudie has been. Many thanks!

Paul Mudie Wow, it looks like the aftermath of a busy morning at the guillotine. we've been tipped off about some of the contributors, but think I recognise Gary Fry and Reggie Oliver among that lot. The guy in black shades has something of the Mark 'Pitbull' Samuels about him. Is the long haired blonde our fellow Night Of The Crabs fan Anna Taborska? Think i must have said this with each volume, but Moodie has truly excelled himself!

I suspect the head lurking at the very top could be Reggie Oliver, while I have been tipped off - okay, Lord P stated it on shocklines! - the upside down head is Lady P herself.

yeah, i figured that was Thana. His screaming Lordship kind of leaps out at you too, or maybe i'm just familiar with seeing his photo, like EVERYWHERE.

The upside down Lady P is the touch that makes it great art. I'm not sure whether to be disappointed I didn't make the cut for No. 8 or relieved that I didn't get my head severed.
