Today's mail brought me a copy of the Faber & Faber reissue of Aickman's "Dark Entries" - and a handsome little volume it is, too.
However, it reminded me that there was some talk a couple of years back of episodes of this anthology series, adapting a few of Aickman's stories, having resurfaced. Does anyone have updated information on whether they're available in any way?
It still surprises me that a series only about 25 years old can have disappeared so thoroughly, but it seems to have been pretty obscure to begin with.

To anyone who finds this thread through google, as I did, I managed to track down what I believe are all of the episodes of Night Voices at the ITV archives at the National Library of Wales. Unfortunately, they're only available to view in person (the archivist I spoke to was adamant that they couldn't be released in any form ). As an American I think I'm out of luck, but if you're in Wales, go take a look and report back!

The Hospice is available online, as you probably know, it has Jack Shepherd in it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLitwlP-m7cI might give it a try tonight.

As an American I think I'm out of luck, but if you're in Wales, go take a look and report back! The National Library of Wales is in Aberystwyth, which seems an odd location. It's a very small coastal town. The area looks beautiful though. I read there were two main reasons for its location. From the website: In 1905 the government promised money in its Budget, and the Privy Council appointed a committee to decide on the location of the two institutions. Aberystwyth was selected as the location of the Library partly because a collection was already available in the College. Sir John Williams, physician and book collector, had also said he would present his collection to the Library if it were established in Aberystwyth. Cardiff was selected as the location of the National Museum Both the Library and Museum were established by Royal Charter on the same day, 19 March 1907. The building on Penglais Hill above the town of Aberystwyth was begun in 1911, and was first occupied in 1916. Several extensions have been added since then. In 1996 a large new storage building was opened, and in recent years many changes have been made to the front part of the building to make it more open and welcoming. A new Royal Charter was granted in 2006. www.library.wales/index.php?id=1

I'm sure several will be able to update you on what they know about this when they they check in. It's interesting that The Hospice is the one available online as it is mentioned in a post by grijak from years ago. It is the episode he tracked down. Could it be the same one?
