happy new year, chastel I love historical settings, Gorgeous period dresses and supernatural, so I have really enjoyed some of these stories! Me too, it's just I've not read any of the modern stuff yet, though intend to get around to at least one Vampire Romance selection this year. There's so much PR around right now it's difficult to know where to start. Do you have any recommendations?

Well, I guess you could try the grandmother of all PRs, Charlaine Harris´ Sookie Stackhouse series which got his own Blood&Boobs HBO series. If you are more in the "Sex and the City" vein, there is Mary Janice Davidson with her "Undead and ..." series. "Undead and Unwed" is the first one. I only know the first one, and it had quite a few good jokes without becoming one of those abominable parodies. These books have a heavy continuity. Or you could check out J.R.Ward with her Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Which I guess are more your typical sweaty PR. Never read one of those, though, and now Miss Ward is trying to establish Fallen Angels as the next big thing after Vampires. I guess I´ll stick to re-reading Neil Gaiman and kindly ignore this

Happy new year demonik! I enjoyed very much Debbie Raleigh´s My lord eternity and My lord immortality where supernatural serial killers prey victims in early 19th century London and Blood Moon by Dawn Thompson where Regency couple get vampire infection and go to Moldovia to search the cure. ;D

Thanks, both of you. Well, just read some blurbs and am going to try hunt down ..... a Debbie Raleigh, as I like the sound of them, not least because one novel is set in the East End ( My Lord Immortality: Jack the Ripper isn't involved, is he?). Also, the covers look right, very much in the tradition of the Paperback Library Gothic Romances of the 'sixties.

No, Jack is not involved, but there was definitely clear Ripperesque feeling in the murders!

it's sounding more attractive by the second. might have a job hunting down a copy, but i've put in on my list. i think those-lovely-people-at-Robinson must have noted that Vault are at the epicenter of all things Paranormal Romance because look what glided gracefully through the door earlier today. wait 'til i get my hands on them! Lara Adrian - Shades Of Midnight (Robinson, February 2010) Joe Roberts PRESS RELEASESHADES OF MIDNIGHT by Lara Adrian Published by Robinson 18 February 2010 Paperback, £6.99 Prepare for seduction as Lara Adrian unleashes a dark new breed of vampire
Shades of Midnight is the seventh novel in Lara Adrian's New York Times bestselling Midnight Breed vampire romance series. This book returns her fans to her dangerous, seductive - and highly addictive - world of blood thirst and endless passion.
Part human, part otherworldly, the Breed has lived among humankind for thousands of years, maintaining a tentative peace built on secrecy, power, and the dark justice carried out by the formidable warriors of the Order. But now, a blood war within the race is set to ignite. Vampires are going Rogue in startling numbers, feeding without discretion, killing humans in the streets. It is up to the Order to stop the spreading threat of Rogue domination--and in so doing, each of the warriors will be forced to confront private demons, darkest secrets, deepest fears. Some will know triumph, some will know loss, but each warrior can count on one thing: Love, when it finds him, will often come at the worst possible moment, with the least likely woman ... and it will bring each of these powerful males to his knees.
The Alaskan tundra is not an easy place for life to thrive, but lately, something extraordinarily sinister and wholly inhuman has let itself loose on the territory, leaving a wake of unspeakable carnage. For bush pilot, Alexandra MacGuire, the wreckage is especially chilling - Alaska is the place she retreated in order to gain safety after her mother and brother were brutally murdered in the Everglades. Now Alex's sanctuary has become her darkest nightmare.
When the Midnight Breed is alerted to the slaughter in Alaska, they send Kade, to quell the danger, and ensure that Alex does not learn the truth behind the attacks. Alex is at first assuaged by the strength of Kade's presence, but she will soon be tested by the mounting threat of otherworldly evil, and by her unexpected desire for a male she should fear, but has become her seductive guide into an erotic realm of blood and darkness
