If love transcends all boundaries then paranormal romance is its logical conclusion. From the biggest names around, here are 24 tales to take you to another time and place.
Let Alyssa Day, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Cheyenne McCray, Jeaniene Frost, Ilona Andrews, Kelley Armstrong, Maria V. Snyder, Carrie Vaughn, Allyson James Marland and others show you powers beyond your wildest imaginings.
Within these pages mythical beasts, magical creatures of all shapes and sizes, heart-stoppingly handsome ghosts, angels, and mortals with extra-sensitive sensory perception play out the themes of extraordinary desires. "Paranormal romance is currently the fastest-growing new fiction genre" according to Robinson. "as I explained earlier, it's pushing Dark Fiction off the shelves and murdering modern brainy horror!" wail important voices at ye league of the vanity published. Claim one appeals to the bandwagon-jumper in me, claim two just ... appeals on such a multitude of levels, so time to put weight behind prolific editor Trisha Telap. Ms Telap has already two volumes of The Mammoth Book Of Vampire Romance under her suspender belt (contributors include Mammoth Best New Horror regular Caitlin Kiernan and the gifted Nancy Holder who, with so many Buffy/ Angel/ Wicked/ Sabrina, Teenage Witch & Co. credits, is clearly in the pulp hack tradition) and she is clearly doing something right: remember how the tiny Romance section in Murder One grew legs and eventually spilled over into that dubious shrine to serial killers at back of the top floor? Trisha was managing the Romance dept. at the time. The real beauty of it is, all women EVER not only love reading this stuff, they love reading about it! Paranormal Romance. Remember where you read about it first!

The real beauty of it is, all women EVER not only love reading this stuff, they love reading about it! Personally, I think I'd rather poke my own eyes out than read it!

Now, i don't believe that for one minute! Perhaps i can tempt you with another one? As Robinson put it, "Paranormal romance is currently the fastest-growing new fiction genre – vampire romance is its most popular form" and we should be glad of that if for no other reason than that it's helping to keep the industry afloat! Trisha Telep (ed.) - Love Bites: The Mammoth Book of Vampire Romance 2 (Robinson, 2009) Cover design: JoeRoberts.co.uk Jordan Summers - Paris After Dark Deborah Cooke - Coven Of Mercy Karen MacInerney - Cirque De La Nuit Caitlin Kittredge - Perdition Dina James - Deliver Us From Evil Camille Bacon-Smith - Blood And Thyme Rosemary Laurey - Into The Mists Forever Patti O’Shea - Blood Feud Angie Fox - Love Bites Caitlin Kiernan - Flotsam Jamie Leigh Hansen - The Murder King's Woman Carole Nelson Douglas Butterfly Kisses Diane Whiteside - Crimson Kisses Jaye Wells - Vampsploitation Stacia Kane - Trust Me Jennifer Ashley - The Scotsman And The Vamp Justine Musk - I Need More You Jennifer St. Giles - Point Of No Return Dawn Cook [Kim Harrison] - With Friends Like These Nancy Holder - Blood Gothic Larissa Ione - Eternity Embraced Jeanne Stein - The Ghost Of Leadville Tiffany Trent - The Vampire, The Witch, And The Yenko Ann Aguirre - Circle Unbroken Devon Monk - Skein Of SunlightBlurb: A wonderful variety of compellingly original vampire stories, many of them wholly unexpected, from award-winning, New York Times bestselling authors. There are typical vampires who would be right at home in a horror story or a gothic romance; historical vampires; contemporary, gritty, urban vampires; fang-in-cheek comedy; boy-meets-girl sweetheart stories (if a little bloodier!); and erotic tales of inhuman passions and midnight pleasures. Look out, too, for stand-alone stories relating to existing series and characters of contributing authors, or stories which develop more fully characters who have only walk-on parts in those authors’ longer fiction. Includes writing by big-name authors such as Jennifer Ashley, Kim Harrison writing as Dawn Cook, Caitlin Kittredge, Diane Whiteside and Eileen Wilks.Much better cover! i'm almost certain it's a Joe Roberts job - Mammoth Book Of Vampire Romance certainly was and he's been responsible for many of the best Robinsons in recent years. Nancy Holder's Blood Gothic first appeared in Stephen Jones' Mammoth Book Of Vampires (Robinson, 1992) via Charles L. Grant's Shadows 8.

Nice to see Vault embracing its softer, more feminine, side - I mean, let's be honest, who here hasn't dreamt at one time or another about being taken roughly by a tall, dark handsome stranger?
I'm thinking - given that, as Robinson quite rightly point out, "Paranormal romance is currently the fastest-growing new fiction genre" - that now might be a good time to revive my writing 'career'. Obviously I'll need a new nom de pulp - what do you think about Lovinya Bodice?

Thanks Lovinya. Everyone else has been frightfully beastly about our new direction, but i knew you'd realise it as the way forward. At least the delightful Fantasy Book Luvr at Best Fantasy Books (Ellen Datlow will be thrilled) appreciates our efforts and sent a kindly message of support within micro-seconds of me posting the Mammoth Paranormal Romance. I'm currently trying to interest her - because it has to be a her - in a racy little gem, recently featured in our laughable news section. Arabella Fang

Here is one of the hundreds currently being on sale. I had to read this - don´t ask - and forgotten most of it already. Like an episode of Charmed, only with hardcore inserts.

It would seem everyone is getting in on the act : Just don't expect Hutson to tone it down, after all if there's one thing women like reading about more than a rough stranger, it's a rough zombie .

Oh no that's fine. Despite the acquisition of the new (and really quite ridiculously yet appropriately gorgeous) Lady Probert (hopefully we shall take a carriage to London to visit you at some point) I am quite happy to provide some appeal to the paranormal romance brigade.

Here is one of the hundreds currently being on sale. I had to read this - don´t ask - ha! you can't post that and get away with it on here, andy. fess up! we want all the gory details! seriously, it must be brilliant for fans of this stuff just now - so much choice, bit like horror during the post Clive Barker boom. the WordPress blog i mentioned is a thing of beauty and the responses to fantasy girl's posts are as enthusiastic as anything you'll find on here. i recognise kindred spirits! they're getting the same buzz from their favourite "Female Werewolf Books to Howl About" as i got last week from Graves For The Living and that is a very special place to be. if anyone comes across a site devoted to retro-paranormal romance (not just the paperback library/ lancer Gothic romances but that early 'nineties thing when vampires came into vogue) i'd be glad of the details. you're right about the logo. still needs a bit of work..... Despite the acquisition of the new (and really quite ridiculously yet appropriately gorgeous) Lady Probert (hopefully we shall take a carriage to London to visit you at some point) I am quite happy to provide some appeal to the paranormal romance brigade. I think you are made for each other (that's you and the dishy Lady Probert and you and the Para-Romance people: even the bride of death swoons at the photo on the reverse of The Faculty Of Terror: "he's like Jason King!"), and if your lordship fancies a night's slumming it in the seedy boudoirs of the East End, i've an arrangement with Mr. Chowdhury at the Off-licence ...
