ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
It's not going to hit the PBoH's 50th Anniversary like I hoped, but there will be an anthology with 16 new stories and 5 reprints from the original Pan Horrors series out in time for the WHC2010 shindig. The cover will be ready and rolled out by December. I just couldn't sit on the contents list for any longer - I'm WAY too excited. I believe that I have some brilliant new stories from the old favourites such as Harry E Turner and Conrad Hill, and I am deeply honoured to have been given permission by John Ware's family to reprint Spinalonga. Septimus, Basil, Francis and Ken have been brilliant in letting me reproduce their stories also.
Also included before each story are snippets of interview from the respective authors detailing their experiences with the Pan Horrors from the pages upon pages of interviews I have amassed in the last wee whiley.
Bringing up the rear of the book will be the most in-depth biographical treatise of Herbert Van Thal's work in the horror anthology field. Have uncovered and have come up with some amazing stuff while writing this massive essay - and it will hopefully cause some debate!
Now 'The Waiting Game' (pun intended) begins.....

That's brilliant news, Johnny. This is shaping up to be a really good anthology - and I'm proud to be included in it. I look forward to seeing the cover as soon as you can reveal it to us. Camera Obscura is one of my favourite horror stories of all time and it's good to see it being published once more. It's a classic of the genre. I've heard a lot of good things about Spinalonga, but have never read it. David

This looks like it's going to be really good, Johnny. Just one comment - wouldn't the title "The Book of All Things Horror" be a better one?

This looks like it's going to be really good, Johnny. Just one comment - wouldn't the title "The Book of All Things Horror" be a better one? I had briefly toyed with the idea, but thought that ATH shouldn't really have anything to do with the Pan Horror stuff. I was simply going to call the book Horror Stories - realised that there was the old Best Seller Library books of the same name, then Steve Jones came up with dropping the 'Pan' from 'The Pan Book of Horror Stories' and there you have it. And when you look at the title, by association, the Pan Books should spring to mind....that's the thinking behind it....hopefully

Cheers everyone - my main ambition is to now have Dem do a blow-by-blow run down of the stories when the book comes out! But the support of everyone has been fantastic, but mention has to go to Charlie Black and his Black Books - he's shown me that self publishing is possible and can be done well, so Charlie, cheers.

Extraordinary achievement, Johnny. You never cease to amaze me. I'm sure this is a dream come true for you and you're probably not alone in that. Hope it goes really well for you.

I'm speechless. I had a shady idea this was all coming out but to see the names there in print is something else. Can't wait.

Clinician,
Alan Temperley's is now a children's author and wouldn't want to sully his image with writing horror stories - though if the parents of his fanbase knew about Kowolongo Plaything, Love on the Farm and Pebbledene - they would probably drop him like a hot penny...
Thank you for your kind words, and I shall endeavour to keep you updated.
As to Alex White...increasingly looks like the one that got away...

Hi Clinician and welcome,
the vault abounds in heroes, anti heroes and apparently zombies vampires and crablike creatures. I was just reflecting that one might not be as mustard keen on some aspects of the vault as others (sf can earn a deserved crucifixion) but you would instantly recognise that the people on here are into the right stuff. I've spent hours looking at related genres, finding out things, getting tips and ideas, being forced to buy books I didn't even know existed, making friends with people with similar bad taste . It's a great place.
As far as this forthcoming collection goes Johnnie has been unbelievable. I required no persuasion at all. As a single, tiny example, to see you writing my name next to David A. Riley, a landmark figure in horror, brought it home to me how much of an honour this really is. I probably won't believe it all happened until I have my hands on a copy.

Maybe Ms White or one who knows of her may see a copy once it's published...we can hope.
As I have often recounted on here, 'The Clinic' was the story that blew my mind and led to me finding this damp-smelling, poorly lit forum upon which we post...
