I am already noticing certain recurring themes in Birkin's writing. Perhaps it was a mistake by Midnight House to include two "having sex in the dark with somebody who turns out to be a leper" stories in the same volume.

I am thinking there is enough material for a television series based on Birkin's stories---something along the lines of Roald Dahl's TALES OF THE UNEXPECTED, except less tongue-in-cheek and less pleasant. Also less unexpected. Perhaps it could be called TALES OF THE INEVITABLE.

I hope this isn't too rude, it has been a long time since I posted here (I rarely post in any groups these days so don't take it too personally :-)).
I have a couple of books for sale (xmas fund raising) on eBay including the first Midnight House collection by Birkin and an early Ash Tree Press volume. These are listed under my uk based user name "Firhill".

- Charles Birkin: A Haunting Beauty (Midnight House) £30 uk buy it now
Both books are in excellent condition and rather hard to find. Postage within the UK will be £3 and across the Broad Atlantic/ Pacific £13. Within the EU would fall somewhere in between. Happy to sell privately to anyone who doesn't want to use eBay.
