A collection of Herbertson horrors is so long overdue it's painful. I couldn't agree more! And me!

: I started writing when I was about twelve so I suppose after forty years or so might be time to go for it.

Doubtful anyone will see this but I’m reading this book now and the penultimate story NAILS by Rog Pile seems very familiar to me. Does anyone remember another story similar to this? A couple moved to a new house, it’s isolated. The woman is pregnant. There’s an older couple nearby who look in on her. And there’s a strange door nailed shut (maybe in the basement?) I think there are goblins on the other side trying to get out? I forget. I really liked it though. It may be one of Paul Finch’s, or in one of the Terror Tales books. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

The story of mine you refer to is The Knock at the Cellar Door, which first appeared in After Shocks in 2001.
I wasn't aware there was a similar theme in this one, but I suppose ideas repeat themselves every so often.
