I was hoping you guys could help me out on something because recently I have been pleased with the outcome of a short audio piece that I had written and friend read out and recorded. I love radio/audio horror short stories but I am not sure as to wether there is any sort of market for them or at least a place on the web that deals with such things. Is there a small press representation for audio horror in the U.K? Or as a plan b could I host a collection of short stories on the web for people to accsess. I have a feeling with the second question I may have over looked some obvious avenues. Thanks for all that can help or even think about it

Is there a small press representation for audio horror in the U.K? Corpse, I've downloaded it from the FC forum and was going to listen to it when I get the chance (how long is it, BTW?). I love audio stories too - always go to as many horror readings as I possibly can! I do recall seeing something a while back about a site (think it was in the US) which was starting up doing audio SF/F/H shorts. But I can't quite recall where it was off the top of my head. Let me do some digging on the internet and in my memory, and I'll get back to you asap on that one! ;D

Let me do some digging on the internet and in my memory, and I'll get back to you asap on that one! ;D (Cheers for the link allthingshorror ) The whole thing runs under two minites so it's a brief little tale if anything, infact it needs more structure as it could come acorss as an account rather than a proper story but this is indeed a dry in preperation for something bigger. In an ideal world I would love to do a story with voices by people doing the parts and some degree of sound effects. However it's a step by step thing at the moment and if this little attempted goes well I am going to get to my mate and see of she would be willing to read a tale of mine. I tragdey is I had an complete reading of my first ever published story called Beggers Banquet read by my ex-fiancee. Trouble is I won't see that for dust now and it really was a nice audio version of the story. ...still I'll just have to start again I guess.

I think it was another one I had in mind, chaps - one which was starting up shortly and was asking for submissions now. I remember seeing it mentioned in one of the writers' e-newsletters I get from various places. Will take a look later, promise ...
It's interesting what you say about wanting to do more of these, Corpse. I discovered a writer on eBay (yes, you heard right!) who is publishing his own audio short story CDs - all read by professional actors, with illustrations by pro artists - really top quality stuff, even though it's self-published. I don't know how much it's cost him to do that. Look him up on eBay if you're interested - seller id: jakemoz. His name's Tim Jeffreys, and he writes amazing short, weird fiction. His "The Secret Season" CD is the one I'd recommend you try first - my particular favourite. Coral and I have got a story by him (as one of two guest male writers) in the upcoming issue of The Thinking Man's Crumpet! ;D

... ah, here it is - that info I was thinking about. The blog containing the info is at: www.sfzine.org/blog1/And here's his blurb about what he's doing. It's not JUST horror, but includes it (although it looks from his latest blog entry as if hard SF is the thing he's most looking for now): Hello.
You’ve found the future site of SFZine.org - The Unusual Internet Audio Magazine of Speculative Fiction.
We are currently accepting submissions in the following categories:
1. Science Fiction 2. Fantasy Fiction 3. Horror Fiction 4. Weird Fiction 5. Reviews 6. Fact Articles 7. Editorials/Commentary
We are primarily interested in works between 6,000 and 10,000 words but feel free to submit works of shorter (flash fiction) or longer (serializable) length. We will consider everything (for which the audio rights are available.)
We pay $0.01 per word for the non-exclusive audio publication rights to works of fiction and poetry and a flat rate of $20.00 for narrated reviews, fact articles and commentary/editorials. This podcast will be distributed under a creative commons license and authors will retain all copyrights to their work.
Note: It is important to remember that the creative commons license allows for the unlimited free distribution of the podcast itself but does not allow for modification or selling of the contents.
If you have a work or works that you would be interested in submitting, please do so in plain text format (RTF is ok) as an attachment to an email addressed to: submissions@sfzine.org
Please be sure to include your full name, contact information and any biographical information you may be willing to share.
Thank you,

well to be honest i think the audio tale is an easier one to find a market for than the written word in that people like the BBC are always looking for stuff - just check out their website, plus there are loads of podcasts etc out there.

I am releasing six collections and 16+ novels in audio format this year. If you check out the www.ghostwriterpublications.com website later this week, you see all the new projects already recorded and planned. A couple of these you'll be hearing on Radio 7 toward the end of 2009, also. Neil

Lin and I have tried listening to some of the USA based podcast stories. But the accents always do us in. It would be great to hear some Sci-fi and horror stuff spoken with a British voice.

There is a lot of work to do yet and it's now an on going project but just so I can get an idea of intrest I will be looking for intrested people to be narrators for my stories.
I have asked a couple of friends already and I am starting to get quite excited about the prospect a collection of audio horror shorts.
