I appreciate the vault is wrapped in the shrouds of horror but I know a few people like this pulp hero. Please ignore if it offends.
With the advent of possibly the last in the Dumarest of Terra series, I'm writing an article on the whole saga. It should come out in a magazine in september. If anyone has any observations, snippets of information, reactions, favourite quotes, letters from Tubb, aversions to the series or indeed anything to say about it please send them here.

I'm particularly interested in the difference between, French American and British reactions and also the gender/class difference so if as a girl you thought the series unbelievably crap or found Dumarest as appealing as Robbie Williams or if as an American you don't even know who the guy is or found him on every bookshelf I'd like to know.
Please send ten quid with each observation - no, only kidding about that. Any information gratefully received.

I've read quite a few , and still got some, of the Dumarest novels. To be brutally honest they were just time fillers until something better came along.
Tully Zetford's (Ken Bulmer really) Ryder Hook series of books was similar but superior to the Dumarest novels.
Dumarest came across a bit like Conan in space...but not as good .
I read some when I was a kid in the UK and read some more as the years went by as an adult in Australia. I have never changed my opinion of the Dumarest books.
I find Simon R Green's Deathstalker series strangely reminds me of the Dumarest novels for some reason?
I think the main problem with the Dumarest books is that each story seemed completly interchangable with the one before or after it. And the writing is so formula like.
Cheers: Jaq.

Craig, I'm in regular-ish contact with Phil Harbottle who is the executor of Tubb's estate. So drop me a private mail if you want me to put you in contact as I'm sure he'll be helpful in anything involving spreading the word about Tubb.
