I pre-ordered Beneath the Surface back in February, with delivery promised in September. It's almost November now and, like Ms Ross, I'm still waiting. Argh! Peter, maybe you'd better let me have your name too and I'll harrass Troo about yours as well. Oh dear, what have I started! (hmm, perhaps I should ask Humdrumming for a fee for my services here? )

I wouldn't bother asking Troo about it; she's well aware of the problem.
As Mr Alexander Martin has posted elsewhere, due to a combination of factors shipping hasn't occurred yet on a small number of volumes (mine included) but he has every faith that by next week things should start to move again. He asks for your patience a bit longer.
I've seen the books and know they're real, folks. You'll get them, but in the interim you might instead start on one of the other volumes in your TBR pile.
Oh, and of course, many thanks to Mr Probert for his kind words above, as well as those that have pre-ordered my collection from Humdrumming. I do hope you enjoy the thing.

As far as TBR piles go, that's never a problem for me. :-) But thanks for the update, Simon.

Ah, thanks Simon. I didn't know there was a general issue. I initially thought Lynn's first post here was a one-off, so was pretty taken aback when others chipped in that they hadn't received theirs either. I know I got my 2nd BoH a while ago, and John clearly has too. At least that's cleared up now! ;D

I hope that those of you who ordered books from Humdrumming have now received them? The sad news is that Humdrumming have gone under. The details from the website do say that outstanding orders will be honoured. It's very sad - for the publishers themselves, readers and writers. I do believe that several writers have been left looking for a new publisher since their planned books now have no "home". Anway, here's the info from the website: Dear Customers,
Sadly the time has come for Humdrumming to close its doors and wrap up the company.
With a large amount of money owed to us, and with the poor state of the economy this year, we were unfortunately not in a position where the company could sustain itself.
After a year of wonderful releases, fantastic support at the BFS FantasyCon, and a wonderful group of authors all pitching in to help out, it really saddens us to have to do this.
Lee Thompson and Trudi Topham would like to thank all of you who have bought from Humdrumming in the past, all of you who have supported not only us, but the small presses in general, and our authors; without all of you, we would not have enjoyed the time we spent in business.
If you have placed an order for one of our available titles, please rest assured that these have now been shipped out and should be arriving shortly. Please remember that it can sometimes take up to two weeks for international deliveries to arrive.
We appreciate that some of you will be-out of-pocket as a result of our closing down. For this we can only apologise. Previous company directors (and shareholders) Lee Thompson and Guy Adams invested a large amount of their own money in to the company, an investment that they will not see again, and we ask that you understand this was not a decision taken lightly.
Our affairs are being handled by David Chappell of GCP, and if you have any questions regarding outstanding invoices please contact him via DavidChappellGCP@aol.com.
Thank you once again for your support,
Trudi Topham & Lee Thompson on behalf of Humdrumming Ltd.I have a nasty feeling that this won't be the only small press to fold in the current economic climate ..

My order arrived safe and sound last week.
It's a real shame it's come to this - as I've said elsewhere, I've been impressed with every Humdrumming book I've purchased, and I was looking forward to some of their upcoming titles ... Let's just hope this isn't the start of some awful landslide of collapsing small press outfits, because we need 'em. They really are the lifeblood of the genre.

This is very sad news and my sincere commiserations to the Humdrumming team and their authors.

I still haven't received mine and now it looks like I won't be getting it ever now, I was really looking forward to it too which was why I paid for it in advance in July, pooh. It's a shame, I was going to order a few more books as they seemed a good wee company.

Sorry to hear you never got yours, Lynn. No, it's not likely now I fear. It might be worth you contacting the administrators (I think their address will be shown on the website) to see if you can get your money back though. But - although I don't really know how these things work - I guess that's quite unlikely too. One of the things I was really looking forward to from Humdrumming was the new collection of short stories from Mark Morris which was due in the spring. Anyway, I understand now that has been picked up by PS Publishing, so that's good news.
