Some good stuff here. It's been a while since I read this one but Daniel McGahey's story (memorably turned into an excellent radio broadcast) and James Stanger's very nasty Beggars Banquet are the stand outs.

I missed that broadcast of Dan's story, and the two James Stanger stories I've read so far would have made him another regular name in Seventies anthologies. Worth having for these two alone then. There are also other names there which I remember turned in impressive entries for the second volume.

The very titles suggest the sinister .... perhaps the horrible?
Correct. But there are other stories in this startling collection of tales by users of the British Horror Films web forum which may make your blood run even colder, may make your hair stand up even straighter ...
19 stories of the fiendish and the fearful in the first volume of a terrifying series! I was pleasantly surprised to find a copy of this in the supremely dingy basement of the Notting Hill Bookshop with my dear friend pulphack last week. I think mine could well be a proof copy as tucked away at the back, and directly after a printer error alert, there's an extract from something called Gory Tales From England's Gaols which certainly doesn't show up in the credits list. I've not got past the introduction yet which would be excellent had it only ended on the line "And perhaps they do, they just don't know it yet" ....

This caused some speculation on the BHF Board at the time, though the Error Code 666 was a bit of a giveaway that this was the equivalent of a DVD Easter Egg. Chris later revealed that it was an extract from the novel he was working on.

Bought the ebook yesterday; some great stories in here! I made so many false starts on this one, couldn't get into it. No fault of the contributors, just that my second-hand copy lost another page every time I opened it. Now it's mostly a stack of loose sheets. Will maybe have another crack at it after I'm done with Vols 4 and 5.

Yes, that could open up the gates of Hell, letting loose upon the earth hordes of the undead ravening for living flesh! This is a worst-case scenario, of course.
