FantagorAnother early 'seventies comic I've never seen, never heard of. Thanks to Justin we have sample scans from the first four issues to go up. These beauties are from the debut.

What I can tell you is that these illustrations look like the work of Ritchie Corben. Some people have suggested that his airbrush work conceals a lot of mistakes, but he's certainly popular. I have some of his comics in Warren's Creepy and Eerie magazines. I've been looking for some of his art online. Strangely, although his name is mentioned, I can see nothing of his work!

Yep it is Richard Corben!
Fantagor 1 was self-published by Corben but then picked up for reprint by underground publishers Last Gasp. At one point you could read a Corben strip in a fanzine, the undergrounds, in Creepy and Heavy Metal. He persevered with self-publishing far longer than any other creator (well into the 1990s) I can recollect but eventually chucked the towel in to work on various Marvel comics.
The back cover illustrates a scene from his Twilight of the Dogs, a typically grim Corben tale of the last days of man.
