I have no idea if this subject is in the correct place so mods and admin please feel free to move it if it's not. I won't be offended Carrying on from a conversation on the 'Tomb Of Dracula' thread I thought I would put a couple of piccies up of my EC archive and boxsets. From the new archives I am missing the most recent volume (Tales From The Crypt 3) but shall be purchasing that shortly, and from the Box sets, as far as I know, I am only missing the 2 volume "Panic" box set. I hope you like.

Very nice!
I only own the Vault of Horror and Tales from the Crypt ones. I considered buying Haunt of Fear, but decided not to.

Interested to see HAUNT OF FEAR has a slipcase - I was told it didn't come with one from the dealer I got my set from! KC

I have Tales from the Crypt and Vault of Horror in slipcases, and also Haunt of Fear from Gemstone as individual issues plus a small number of EC's crime comics. I ordered the slipcased Haunt of Fear around 1995 from a dealer but they couldn't get it for some reason, hence my purchase of the Gemstones.

The sets were not fun to carry home!
How much were all of those sets total?

I paid £75 for the five volume sets each, £55 for the four volume ones, and around £40 for the 3 volume ones each. 2 volume set I think I paid £25. Panic, the set I still don't have, will set me back £150 now.
If you tried to buy the complete set now I wouldn't be surprised if it set you back £2000-£3000.

In 1994, the slipcased Vault and Tales cost me £80 each.

I'm trying to figure out the difference between the US dollar and pounds now.
I can't remember how much the TFTC and VOH sets were seven years ago. Same with the HC Shock Suspenstories 1 and 2.
What were your favorite EC stories?

A german comicshop lists the Gemstone Vault of Horror complete set at 96 pounds.
Another lists Vol.1 single at approx. 33 pounds. Tales from the Crypt is each volume the same price., but not all are avaiable. This is without postage.
Compared to some hardcover reprints like Eerie or Creepy from Dark Horse this sounds reasonable.

Compared to some hardcover reprints like Eerie or Creepy from Dark Horse this sounds reasonable. These are reprints in comic form and are basically worth $2 a pop if that. The Tales from the Crypt equals £150 or there abouts. If thats with the slipcase then it's a bargain. There are some on eBay at the moment at £250.

Gemstone did the comic reprints, Cochran did the hardcovers in a slipcase.

Compared to some hardcover reprints like Eerie or Creepy from Dark Horse this sounds reasonable. I've been buying the Eerie and Creepy Dark Horse reprints for £23 including postage. That's the maximum I've been paying. More often than not I've been paying £17 a volume inc p&p

Way back in the 1980's, I had a friend who was a few years older than me. He had spent a frightening amount of money acquiring original EC comics. These were kept, in bags and on boards, and in special boxes. He got the reprint collections so that he could show his friends, who could look at the reprints, rather than touch the original comics . Alas, a few years later, he discovered just how 'moreish' heroin is, and sold his collection to bolster his habit. What a complete tw*t. Needless to say, he's not about any more, and, although I love EC Comics, they always make me think of him, and thinking of him always makes me angry.

I did dispose of my collection of original EC comics. Sold them but not for smack. Sometimes having something that's worth so much can be a right royal pain in the arse.
